Holy ferchrissakes, people. This one isn't worth the air it takes to talk about it. First, it appears to have first been reported 6 goddam years after it was allegedly said. Second, even if it was said, it was said in a situation where there might be some presumption of privacy (just as in the case of that other inane recent flap, Bittergate). Third, if it was said, it was said in the heat of a moment when Newt the Grinch's 2004 Congressional sweep was still stinging.
There are plenty of grounds for trashing Hillary, and I wish to hell she'd just get out of the race, but this one is at least as stupid and unfair as the fanning of the flames over Barack's somewhat artless but thoroughly accurate description of the state of the world.
I really hope Obama shows his usual class and leaves it lie.

3. Other things may prove what you say about Hillary. |

I really don't think this does. Hell, it was said--IF it was said at all--at a Camp David retreat. I'd sure hate to have everything I've said in private repeated in public. I think people are entitled to let their hair down without expecting that everything said in a moment of frustration is gonna get emblazoned across the sky in glowing orange letters.

2. Not that Hillary wouldn't jump all over it, if it were said by her opponent. But Obama won't. |

4. Yes, I'm sure she would. |

I don't think Obama will. I certainly hope not. That's an important difference between them, and one he will preserve carefully if he is wise. And of course he is wise.

5. I'm with you on this. We supporters of Barack are going to |

want the Clintons to reach out to their constituencies to bring the Party together. We are going to need all Democrats and a fair share of Independents to win in November. Hillary and Bill are going to have to work their asses off to bring those voters home to salvage any shred of credibility with the Liberal community and Party leaders. It helps no one to rehash an intemperent but private statement made in the bitter aftermath of an electoral loss.

6. Thank you. Glad someone else sees it this way. |

Someday soon, this phase is going to come to an end, and it will take everything we have to beat John McCain and the corporate/media/Republican machine.
