Wow...Hillary totally wipes the floor with Barack
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 08:19 PM by JoFerret
Incredible. Her mastery of the details and their implications is amazing.

She smashes Bush on economics as well as everything else.
Barack now whines.
Clearly - he just does NOT know what he is doing.

75. Yes she did well there. once we figure out the funding.. most public schools are funded by propriety...
taxes (locally) and with property values dropping the taxable values may/should drop also.

Public schools need serious and permanent funding reform.

Nothing against her on this.. she did outline the goals fairly well, I just don't know how we will reach them

76. He was brutal. He talks about raising the capital gains tax because "it's the right thing to do",
even though it was pointed out that over the last 25 years, when the rates been lowered or kept the same, the tax revenue goes up. So he wants to raise the tax to decline the revenue because "it's the right thing to do? What does that even mean? Then he criticizes Hillary's plan to convene a panel for solutions to social security the way Reagan and Tip O'Neill did back in the 80's. Why exactly would that be a bad thing?

is "ill-informed".

You can hate her all you want but to question her competence and mastery of policy detail is very , well, "ill-informed'. Or more likely ill-intentioned.
Whatever - wrong anyway.
Kerry was more informed than Bush - did him no good.
Gore was more informed than Bush - did him no good.

She is well informed. So is Obama.

37. repeat what she said and how her answer actually answers the question
she is an expert politician, she gives canned answers that are catered towards the best audience reaction, yet often largely avoid the question presented, or leave out the sordid details (like that the committee she was praising raised the payroll tax and the retirement age).

She does well at debates because she has more practice giving sound bites and leading people on, rather than actually answering questions.

65. She has mastered the details of quotes from Rev. Wright
and bitter and flagpins. Perhaps she should put more time into thinking about policy and not about negative attacks ...

It is clear that nothing of reality reaches your brain.

This is a senseless post, your candidate is over.

Hillary behaved better tonight than you have.

67. I'd give Hillary a slight lead.

I thought she showed zero class with her comments on the Bittergate, Weather and Wright stuff. Obama took the high ground and took up for her over the Bosnia thing where she couldn't resist the cheap shots. Obama won that part.

On the issues part I think Hillary is giving more coherent responses overall.

However I would characterize this as the "Republican talking points gotcha commentators against the Democratic candidates" rather than Clinton vs Obama.

This debate shows why the primary has gone on too long. It does the eventual nominee or even the party issues no good to allow these guys to hit the candidates with right wing bs.

86. agreed!
This is what pisses me off so much!!! The media spent 2/3 of the debate focusing on non-issues (Bittergate, Wright, Bosnia), but very little time on ISSUES. Makes me want to puke. Hillary clearly has a better command of the issues, hands down. But, the average voter will not care, they want the blood.

Full disclosure - I'm still undecided between the two.

112. It was my opinion after all
So of course it was subjective.

And I think you probably do realize that Hillary's grasp of economics (and what needs to be done to turn the Bush economy around) are detailed and thorough. In fact - they are almost identical to Obama's.

87. Oh yeah, that Reagan Commission argument she gave was a real winner
Obama ate her for breakfast on that one: that commission raised the retirement age and raised payroll taxes. Oops.

Her attempt to link Obama to the Weather Underground was another blow well delivered (not): she got the boomerang reminder that hubby made presidential pardons for two members of that group.

92. I love Hillary and wish that was true, but I just didn't see it. To me, it was just another debate
Nobody won or lost. Nothing big happened. I don't see all the fuss or excitement.

If Hillary wins big in PA it will be because of the "bitter" comments. If Barack wins then it will probably be because of the Casey endorsement.

I doubt this debate will have any impact at all, other then it might pressure Barack to take the NC debate if the ratings are good. Network debates will be watched by more people then cable debates.

103. That's really dense. You think that was a victory?
Have you looked at any of the online polls or read any articles from serious papers? She just buried herself even further.

Everytime you cackle with glee that he had to run through one of her gauntlets, it backfires on her. Her numbers aren't even sinking now, they're tanking and instead of helping her, you encourage her in the delusion. I couldn't pay the HRC campaign enough hard cold cash to help him more than they already are.

It's a sad spectacle to see people who supposedly support her cheering everytime she makes her own situation worse.

But go for it, you have my full encouragement. I'd be devastated if you changed strategy and actually started "helping" her.

For those who didn't see, the debate in a nutshell

Mod: Senator Clinton, how do you feel about Iraq?
Hillary: I feel we should leave.

Mod: Senator Obama, why do you hate America?
Obama: I love America, it's been good to me.

Mod: Senator Clinton, do you feel that poor people should have more money?
Hillary: Absolutely

Mod: Sen. Obama, when was the last time you and Reverend Wright plotted to blow up an Embassy?
Obama: Can't we just talk about the issues instead of this tabloid stuff?

Mod: Senator Clinton, what is your kitten agenda
Hillary: I feel kittens are soft and fluffy and should be cared for.

Mod: Senator Obama, someone you went to grade school with was arrested 8 years ago for kicking a kitten. Why do you hate kittens?
Obama: How is this relevant at all?

Mod: Senator Clinton, tell us exactly how brave you were in overcoming your husband's adultery?
Hillary: i was very brave. God helped me.

Mod: Senator Obama, it's all over the internet that you are an evil Muslim elitist terrorist. Why are you an evil Muslim elitist terrorist?
Obama: I'm not. And weren't you just asking me about my CHRISTIAN pastor?
Mod: The one you blow up embassies with?
Obama: What? Are you serious.

Mod: We have to take a commercial. Senator Clinton, we realize that we haven't paid enough attention to you and we deeply apologize.
Hillary: Quite alright.

All through the eyes of the beholder. Yah she talked about how her husband did some good. But she had nothing of her own. And she was knocked back on several questions.
I call it for Obama. He made lemons to lemonade last night.
