Gibson & George S. Heckled + Viewer Responses
“Reflecting what seemed to be the main consensus of the night - that ABC botched this debate, big time - Charlie Gibson tells the crowd there will be one more, superfluous commercial break of the night and is subsequently jeered.

"OH..." he declares, hands raised in defense. "The crowd is turning on me, the crowd is turning on me."

Off camera, observers let out their frustrations. Watch it:

“Horrible. When are you people going to ask our candidates questions about the issues and not the high-school drama every news outlet has been droning on for the last week? We have our men and women fighting in a war, our economy is going downhill and all you could come up with is drama about who said what and who's wearing their flag pin and who isn't? None of this is important to the future of our country. I want to know where the candidates stand on real issues.

Utterly shameful. You kept on beating Obama over the head with everything you could throw at him, all under the guise of testing him before the Republicans do. Then Clinton pretty much admits to lying about the Bosnia thing, and you just ignore it. And how kind of you to "even out" the speaking time for each candidate by giving Clinton more time to talk about policies after you've wasted so much of Obama's time with manufactured scandals.

ABC, you wasted our time with silly questions. Have the reality TV producers taken charge of the news division?

Hey George Stephanopolous - must feel good for you to be working for the Clintons again. Charlie Gibson - so who are you in the tank for? Is it Clinton or McCain? I couldn't tell, it seemed like you wanted to help both of them. Where do the candidates stand on healthcare? I wouldn't have any idea after watching this sham of a debate. Perez Hilton would have asked more pertinent questions. Hell, even Paris Hilton would have done a better job running this debate. Look forward to watching Brian Williams and Tim Russert during your time slots in the future.

Could we please have a debate about issues and not our perceptions about someone's patriotism? What was learned from this debate?

Oh how I miss Peter Jennings he would never have done such a disgraceful job.” More at link:

1. When I was a kid we mostly watched ABC for the evening news
Peter Jennings. I remember Charlie Gibson being a D.C. reporter from back then. Was he like this back then? Maybe as a kid I didn't see it? Was Brit Hume also with ABC back then? I don't have a TV so I'm mostly oblivious to these folks, but it seems like journalists who were real (network TV at least) journalists in the 1980s/1990s have lost their minds.

3. He Spent Years As The Host Of Good Morning America
It shows. The question is why he was ever given the anchor spot?

2. I haven't tuned my tv to ABC or any of it's tentacles since they ran
that hitpiece on the Clinton Administration (P2911). Mind you, that's when I thought highly of the Clintons. But from the reviews here, sounds like they didn't fail to live up to their corporate shill image once again.

I certainly hope the Clintonites who are gloating tonight will keep in mind that they don't like Hillary any more than they like Obama, McCain is still the preferred choice of the corporate elite.

4. Did you see the look on Stephanopolis's face?
He looked like he was in shock, and very embarrassed by the crowd's reaction.

I think he knows that they screwed up.

Wow, kudos to the crowd for giving them a piece of their minds.

I would have LOVED to have heard what happened after the video cut off. I wonder
if the crowd really gave it to them.
