Overheard...Ed Rendell after the debate...being candid.
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 11:44 PM by madfloridian
This is from Chris Bowers at Open Left. He was there at the debate as a blogger. If you have not read his columns tonight, you should.

He overheard this from Rendell:

Bowers said " I passed Governor Ed Rendell just as he was finishing an interview. Afterwards, appearing very happy, he said the following to someone standing next to him, revealing not only what he thought of the debate, but also of the early questions at the debate:

"Even an Obama Kool-Aid drinking guy like yourself has to admit she scored a decisive victory tonight. A decisive victory. A knockout blow. A decisive victory. A decisive victory. Even more decisive when they started asking real questions."

Rendell being candid

The PA governor calling an Obama supporter a "kool-aid drinker". Absolutely out of line.

But then Ed Rendell has said things before that seemed a little over the line. I remember the time he

Asked how the party should resolve the impasse, Rendell said, jokingly:

"Shoot (DNC Chairman) Howard Dean."

Shoot Howard Dean

Sorry, Governor Rendell, not the best of taste in either comment.

3. Well, that's why you're mad at him
cause he dissed Dean.

I'm an old Deaniac myself. Doesn't mean he can't be occasionally criticized.

9. If you feel better thinking that , just go ahead.
Whatever.

I am not mad at him, I am disgusted over the use of the word "kool-aid" by a governor.

7. Prissy? Rendell, lol, outed himself as a partisan hack
and on the same day that he started hedging his bets by saying Obama can win PA in November.

As far as I'm concerned, he can go ahead and do that but, it's not a winning strategy!

20. Rendell betrayed Gore in 2000 in the Florida recount.
I'll never forget it, then LIEberman came on a just about gave up. This was early.

The party is filled with professional electioneers...people who don't care about ideology.

They're just there to act as concierge for the plundering of the vast majority of citizens, like 99%
of them.

Pennsylvania is one great state, it's got so much going for it. What's Ed done?

22. Hey Ed Rendell, how about this Kool-aid? Switching from Clinton to Obama.
"Plus: The Obama campaign tells Stephanopoulos that “prominent Pennsylvania supporters” will switch their support from Clinton to Obama Thursday morning due to Clinton’s negativity."

http://thepage.time.com/2008/04/17/philadelphia-daily-news-endorses-obama/

Very few got my point. A governor should NOT call anyone a kool-aid drinker. Not a wise thing to do. Just like you really shouldn't joke about shooting the party chairman, you should not call Obama supporters Kool-aid drinkers.

...the more her opens his mouth, is there any doubt as to who has been promised the VP spot on the Hillary ticket?

Too bad he won't be able to get a job as dog-catcher in the upcoming Obama administration...

31. Sounds like his programming malfunctioned.
Repeating "a decisive victory" four times. Reminds me of Hillary and her "Winning. Winning. Winning. Winning." comment. Camp Clinton must think four is some kind of magic number for them.

Listening to Slick Eddie gives me a sour stomach.
