You WILL start cheering for our nominee, even if you think you currently hate Clinton or Obama
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 12:24 AM by ruggerson
Reason?

Because when Barack or Hillary starts making the case against McStain and the Republicans, they will be echoing things you strongly believe in, and despite yourself, you will find yourself starting warming up to them.

Because, whichever one it is, they will be essentially making most, if not all, of the arguments YOU believe in. And, against your best instincts, your heart and brain will start seeing the good things in the candidate you now think you despise.

Politics and time are both funny things. You find yourself rooting for the damndest people.

4. Oh you still like him?
I thought you might have dumped him after he said essentially the same thing I did about Jimmy Carter.

He has respect for the former President.

18. Here you go:
Obama criticizes Carter on Hamas meeting, tries to reassure Jewish leaders

http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/president/17812719.html

"That's why I have a fundamental difference with President Carter and disagree with his decision to meet with Hamas," Obama said. "We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel's destruction. We should only sit down with Hamas if they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel's right to exist and abide by past agreements."

"Hamas is not a state. Hamas is a terrorist organization," he said.

I won't hold my breath waiting for you to admit you are wrong, because, well, you just aren't that kind of person.

19. I thought you were talking about his statement on Hamas in the debate....

I did not see those comments before.

Yes... they are disappointing.... but he simply stated a disagreement, he didn't disrespect the guy like you did.

Obama disagreed with Carter.

You disrespected Carter.

I disagree with Obama and agree with Carter on this issue.... but the difference is that I don't think someone is a disgrace because I disagree with them.

24. Now you're on some imaginary planet
where when I say I disagree with Carter on meeting with Hamas (and specifically say I agree with him on other things, but not this) I'm "disrespecting" him.

When Obama says the same thing I do, he's "disagreeing" with him.

You're a joke.

3. You're probably right ruggerson.
But I went into this debate still voting for Hillary. I walked out feeling like she would have to earn my vote. I know you and I will disagree, but I dont agree with her tactics, such as ridiculously name-dropping Farakkhan. My anger towards here was even more fueled when OBama gave her a pass on Bosnia.

I will not vote for McCain and will vote for the dems in all the Congressional races, so I will vote. But if she is the nominee, she can no longer expect my vote.

Never seen anything like it and I've seen some nasty crap.

We've definitely turned a corner - and we did it in a year we should be kicking ass.

Thank our Impeached President and his Democratic Party killing machine.

32. It is a whole new game....one that many of us wouldn't have expected in
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 08:38 AM by KoKo01
this year when we have most of the country turned on Bush Policies and our golden opportunity is handed to us.

We've turned a corner and I don't know what's on the other side...except another four years of the same...as the grass roots for Populism starts to put up new shoots. Maybe we have to go down in the depths of depravity and bankruptcy for four more years before new ideas can rise like a phoenix out of the ashes. At this rate it will be ashes we are left with before we can make a fresh start. Many of us had hoped for a "transition." Al Gore might have been the one to do it...but perhaps he saw we are just too deep into the collapse for anyone to be able to pull us out at this point.

8. "Cheering?" No.
I'm an Obama supporter. If he wins the nomination, he gets my vote, my volunteer time, my cheers and my contributions.

If Hillary wins, she gets my vote - which will take place with me holding a bag in the booth just in case my stomach can't take it. That's it. She will get none of my time and none of my money. She voted for the war, stands behind her vote and lies with the best of Republicans. Her lies and doubletalk aren't even remotely transparent. She makes me fucking sick.

With all due respect, I will NOT cheer for her, no matter how many capital letters you use in the word "WILL." I'll vote for her if she's McStain's opponent, but I'll feel like a whore doing it.

not impossible for me to vote for him. 17. Actually Obama has been proven to repeatedly lie and it seems not to trouble his fans.
He lied about Rezko and his contributions to ABC then had to contribute the excess donations to charity, he lied about his parents being inspired by Selma when Selma didn't take place till 5 years after he was born.He lied about his father and JFK . He lied about being aware of Wright's "controversial statements". And he currently lied anout his realtionship with a ME billionaire he said he hadn't met, who he is now proven to have attended a party with at Resko's house. But Obama's lies don't count.

22. No, he hasn't. It's been alleged, remains debunked.
However, video evidence and official government documents prove clinton lied about Tuzla and her strong support for NAFTA, respectively.

23. These statements aren't alleged. Selma DID take place 5 years after Obama was born.
Obama admitted that he wasn't forthcoming about the Rezko donations. and He did state he wasn't "aware " of the Wright statementand then recinded that staement. he admitted that. There are pictures of him and Amin(sp) at Rezko's party.Obama admits these "mistakes". Too bad his supporters can't even admit the mistatements he admits to.

You also won't forgive his supporters, ever.

Oh, and fuck the Dem Party - they don't deserve any respect if they nominate such an evil, empty suit.

10. I really hope you are right
I have felt that way for a while, but I know that the only way Hillary will get the nomination is if she destroys Obama, and I am not sure how easy it would be to forgive her for that. If there's a legitimate scandal that's one thing but if she brings him down by creating manufactured outrage the way she has with "bittergate" it'll be tough to forgive her. I will try my hardest and I hope you are right that I will still cheer when she says things I believe in, but she'll have destroyed a candidate I genuinely respect and it will be hard to forgive her. I imagine some Clinton supporters may feel the same way about Obama. But I hope and pray that you are right, because we have the chance to make history this year one way or another, but it's not going to be easy, and we need all hands on deck if we are going to do it.

26. Reminds me of tennis
I never have any problem fervently rooting against, and/or betting against, someone in the semifinals, then flopping course and passionately favoring that person in the finals.

Completely different dynamics.

That being said, I will concede Obama is the first Democratic nominee who I'm not thrilled with, based on personality and my instincts about him. Even the nominees certain to be massacred seemed genuine. I liked Kerry but was simply frustrated we had handicapped pathetically, prioritizing resume and not charisma against an incumbent.

In this case, if we were offered hidden cameras of the Obamas and the Clintons at home and in private settings for several days, I'm confident we would be shocked at the reversal, of reality versus expectation and stereotype.

Mine will be blind D vs. R support, and all that flows from that result.

Get over it people.

Chances are Obama will be the nominee.
Not my choice.
Not imo the better candidate.

She should win but it just isn't going to happen. So Obama folk - grow some compassion. Stop the whining. Stop the character assassination. Both are GREAT dems. Great candidates. Hillary has unsurpassed master of policy detail. Hilary is a great politician. Learn.
