FDR. Harry S. Truman. Dwight D. Eisenhower. JFK. |

Can you imagine any debate moderator asking any of these past presidents such stupid, trivial assinine questions? Me either. That debate was one of the most appalling presentations on our supposedly publicly owned airwaves ever.

2. I did not watch. I have become bias for Obama plus |
|
it is getting to silly. I once heard a man say he would not vote for Kennedy because he did not like Mrs. Kennedy's voice and I once heard a man say he would vote for Bush because he liked it when he was vice under RR and ran the first time. People will vote for very silly reasons and I guess I will just wait and see what happens. It has all got to much. By the way my Pastor said lots of things I have not liked and I just let them go over my head. I do not have to think like my pastor or yours.

4. Questions about wearing a freakin' FLAG PIN are idiotic, to say the least. |

And while you may not believe it (as I am an Obama supporter), I would say the SAME THING about those kinds of questions had they been asked of Hilary Clinton.
I think both Clinton and Obama have good, solid ideas about the issues facing this country today, but damn ABC all to hell, asking why a candidate doesn't wear a fucking FLAG PIN is beyond idiocy.
As I said in my email to ABC, I care as much about that as I do about Brittany and Paris: In other words, I. Do. Not. Care.

5. That was the pre television era |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 05:21 AM by Hippo_Tron
I suppose in JFK's case it was the beginning of the TV era. Most people didn't even know that Roosevelt was paralyzed let alone that he was sleeping with his secretary. The news media simply didn't report on it. Television and Watergate made us start to judge candidates by what we think of them personally rather than whether or not they would do a good job.
Personally I would be just fine electing a President that has wild orgies in the Oval Office or other similar things that would be appalling to most Americans. As long as they get the job done (no pun intended) I simply don't care.
Too many people are looking for the President to be their best buddy, or someone they would want to have a beer with, or a good role model for their kids. That's how we wind up with presidents like the one that we have now.
