Why is Barack not the nominee yet?
I try not to say any nasty stuff about Senator Clinton.

Forget votes and delegates.

Just remember his speech after his victory in Iowa.

It's all there.

He laid out a very liberal agenda in a way that was quite universal.

Oh, the horrors!

1. Inexperience
Voters like him, but aren't ready to back him wholeheartedly yet.

3. He hasn't even completed his first term.
And I think the inexperience is showing through some of the mistakes that he's made.

8. Its a major problem
that underlies nearly all of his support. The US and the world are too screwed up right now, people want experience.

12. Oh come on. Hillary is only in her 2nd term
She joined the Senate 4 years before Obama. It's not like she's Robert Byrd.

16. In spite of what has been said, I think
Hillary knew a lot about what was going on and what was being talked about while Bill was in the White House. She's too mentally acute, too active, and too curious not to have been involved. That said, she's not as liberal as I would like. And based on what he's said here and there, neither is Obama in spite of what his supporters think.

25. ...in spite of the fact that he PROMISED he would finish out his first term.
That, of course, shows waffling. He said he wanted public financing, but now, due to the bundles and bundles of cash he has, he wants something else.

He's like a kid in a candy store. Wide eyed exuberance does not a president make.

20. He has demonstrated his "Junior Senator test-level"
He has yet to become a Closer! That is significant as he will be evaluated by the super-delegates as to what he can do under pressure....he can't close the deal nor win the essential electoral states of the general election in his own Democratic primary. Checkmate, Big Wave of delegates jump onto Senator Clinton's boat to sail up the Potomac to Pennsylvania Ave.

13. So should candidates not ever drop out of the race until the last primary/caucus?
Should Richardson, Biden, Edwards, Kucinich, and the rest still be in the race until the last vote is counted?

15. Yea, ever since 2000, and 2004, I've sorta become a
count all the votes kinda guy.

Especially when we're down to only two candidates.

to admit defeat.

7. Because everyone has not voted yet.
We just can not forget those pesky "votes and delegates." Some are not willing to vote for him because of a victory speech in Iowa. They just want a chance to vote. Clinton and Obama are willing to keep fighting for the nomination and let the process play out. Why can't some people just let it go forward?

28. The votes will be counted
as soon as everyone gets a chance to vote. Voters in states which do not usually matter at this point are actually getting a say in this election and that is a good thing.

21. Because it's impossible for either candidate to get the nomination with pledged delegates
That means it will come down to the superdelegates at the Democratic National Convention in late August. Though many of the superdelegates have endorsed one of the two candidates, none of them cast an actual vote till at the convention.

23. Because he generalizes every time he speaks.
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 07:43 AM by Florida22ndDistrict
He talks about having hope. He talks about how people are angry, hungry, frustrated, fed up, etc. He talks about what people have lost. He talks about bringing change. He talks about a lot of things that don't work in the government and how other politicians haven't done anything about them. He talks about lobbyists. He talks about corruption. He talks about his family history. He talks about having trust in him. On and on and on...

He definitely knows how to make conversation and can complain with the best of them, but where's the plan? Considering Obama is like sitting down at the table, you've got your knife and fork in your hand you're all ready to eat but somethings missing. Where's the meat? He's a smart man with great charisma, but his inability to convey the plan he will pursue to try to remedy many of the issues Americans are fed up about bothers many people. When we look for a leader, we look for a confident intelligent man who knows what he wants. I've watch probably 100 speeches from Obama and all he seems to want is a shot at the presidency.

24. Because he's up against a very popular candidate with huge name recognition.
No one was ever going to walk away with an election against Clinton, unless it was by laying out a "very liberal agenda." Obama hasn't done that, so his lead is not enormous.
