the continuation and accentuation of every faux issue from Wright to flag pins for half a debate wiping the floor. It was disgusting. How Obama held himself back I'll never know. He even had an opening to talk about what the Republicans would use against Hillary (the usual Clinton scandals) and he refused to name them, staying on the high road. She was baiting him throughout the entire "debate," trolling for a commercial-worthy tidbit. It didn't happen.

It is truly sad to see some Clinton supporters celebrating the worst and most destructive parts of current day politics and media. It is also unbelievably short-sighted. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5544859&mesg_id=5544859It was so terrible that the media itself is having to call bullsh$% on the performance of ABC. Although when Russert and Williams sandbagged Clinton I did a bit of the same thing. But as I thought she clearly won that debate on merit of her answers I did not start the whining and hand-wringing.
Obama had a trial by fire. this debate was a great preparation for the firestorm to come if he is the nominee. This is something that Clinton supporters have been warning everyone about for weeks. The GOP onslaught will be relentless. He better start getting ready.

we haven't had debates in this country since the Lincoln/Douglas debate some time back.
This is pure infotainment with a couple of media cretins asking what they consider to be 'cute' questions.
They should have tossed out some important questions and then let the two candidates debate with each other.
Sometimes issues are much more important than containing the info to fit into the 'time for commercial break' box.
Even Geraldo could have done a better job.
Time to return presidential debates to the League Of Women Voters.

The debate concentrated on Obama's contacts and parsing things he has said over the course of the past few weeks.
Where was the discussion about Hillary under sniper fire? Or Vince Foster? The Rose Law firm billing records? The White House travel office firings? Hillary's brothers getting pay offs for Bill's pardons? Or even Hillary's insulting comments to Tammy Wynette.
There are tons of things that Obama could sling at Hillary. But he chooses to take the high road.

You should read what they have to say about the debate.
Editor and Publisher:
"In perhaps the most embarrassing performance by the media in a major presidential debate in years, ABC News hosts Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous focused mainly on trivial issues as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama faced off in Philadelphia."
WaPo:
"Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos, turned in shoddy, despicable performances."

you seem to have no grasp of logic or reason. If one side is complaining about the moderators, there are two possibilities, the moderators were very bad or their candidate lost. Now it's would be simplistic, foolish and wrong to assume it must have been one of the possibilities in the absence of anymore information.

"When the other side is attacking the moderators, you know their guy lost!"
Of course, when half the planet is attacking the moderators that's a whole different story.
The ABCNews story on the debate is coming up on sixteen and a half thousand almost entirely pissed off comments about the travesty that was that debate. I can't remember the last time I saw a news story on that site with a couple hundred total comments. A google search for "Worst Debate Ever" will fill the front page search results with stories about last night. The news articles critiquing the debate today are filled with commentary on the total waste of time it was. Even the Clinton supporters jumping up and down and commending ABC are doing it for, to paraphrase most of the remarks... "finally hitting Obama", which is only admitting that that's what the moderators did, jumped all over Obama when they were supposed to be neutral and unbiased. And if they had done it on substantive policy issues that would have been one thing... but what did we get? Almost the entire opening HOUR filled with:
Senator Obama, don't you like our flag? Senator Obama, how patriotic is the pastor of your church? Senator Obama, this guy that was on the board of a charity you were on the board of did bad things when you were eight years old... explain why you have apparently breathed the air in the same room at the same time. Etc...
And then the part that topped it off for me, Gibson apologizes, to CLINTON, for spending more time on Obama... as if Hillary was all broken up about the inquisition being conducted across the stage while she jumped in and piled on with the personal attacks when the opportunity presented itself. "Oh gosh golly gee Senator Clinton, we sure are sorry we're spending a totally unequal amount of time over here demanding Senator Obama explain the words, actions, and personal feelings of every person who has ever passed within a hundred yards of him. That sure isn't fair to you ma'am, we'll fix that right up later by letting you talk some policy."
There is no real ambiguity on this, that debate was a complete travesty. It was a disgrace. Anyone defending it has some serious ethical shortcomings, or just plain wasn't paying attention to what was happening.

You must have not spent enough time at mime school. Go back, you need practice.
