You should be ashamed. I am paying almost $4/gallon for gas, nervous about the weak dollar, ready for the war in Iraq to be over but concerned about national security, and scared to death about the state of the environment and what legacy we will leave our children. Lapel pins? Eff you, ABC.

I am disheartened that Charles Gibson, someone I thought of as a serious journalist, would take part is such a travesty. You are failing the American people by failing to cover serious issues instead of trivialities!

I've always respected the ABC news team, but last night's debate looked more like an episode of Jerry Springer than an important political discussion. What a condecending load of garbage Charlie and George heaped on us - flag pins and cookies??? The funny thing is that even ABC's own polls have Obama the winner of last night's debacle, so their sleazy efforts to bolster Clinton didn't work.

This undecided voter will now vote for Obama thanks to last night's despicable pile-on. I saw only one human being last night and was not Gibson, Stephanopolous or Clinton. Very poor show. America deserves better. If only we could vote for our media...oh wait, we can. With our wallets and our remotes.Boycott ABC and Disney. It is the only way to make them listen to we, the people.

ABC did excellent job. Why are Obama supporters crying while the fact is Obama has so far got free ride from CNN and MSNBC? THis was true test for Obama and sorry to say but he failed. More attacks will follow if he gets nomination. I don't think he is prepared for that. I really like debate yesterday. Great job, ABC!!

Trash. This so-called "debate" was a sophomoric attempt by Gibbon and Georgie boy to smear the entire Democratic Party and both of its candidates, but especially Senator Obama. It also served to make America an international laughingstock.Trivia, smears, gossip, non-issues that have already been beaten to death, devoid of substance, trying (yet failing!) to make both candidates look bad. A GOP hit, that's all this was. Disgraceful on the part of both moderators.

It's about time one of the networks had the #### to ask the right questions. The last debate was something out of the 50's compared to this debate. ABC for once got it right. Obama wants to be a big boy he needs to act as one. He needs to owned up for his actions and not blame Hillary for what he has done. She'd picking on me crap is getting a little old. Charlie and George asked Obama questions first before Hillary. Obama was sweating over the questions he was asked. Hillary was quick and had the right come back with EVERY question asked of her. Obama's come back on a question was to blame Bill for what Bill did. Hello, you can't blame Bill, Obama! Billie did this and Billie did that....lol,,,,Obama your running against Hillary not bill. Thank you ABC for such a great debate.

Charlie and George had a chance to ask the candidates about serious issues (the weak economy, war in Iraq, etc..) but they decided to focus on silly issues (flag pens, reading Obama's minsters mind, old radicals form the 1960s, etc..) that the Republicans are hoping to use during the General Election.I am disapointed in ABC news. You are better than that.....

That was the most shameful excuse for a debate I have ever witnessed. First off, George S. should never have been allowed as a moderator b/c of his history with the Clintons. I waited almost 50 minutes before a significant question of policy was asked. Rediculus. This was NOT news, this was a hit job. Very sad...the citizends of the United States of America deserve an apology from ABC. They broadcast over OUR airwaves and given lasts night debacle, they aren't worthy of that privelege.

I thought the job the two "moderators" performed at the debate last night was utterly deplorable. George Stephanopoulos in particular was shameless in his line of attack (oh, I'm sorry, that was supposed to be "questioning"). It is too obvious, not only last night but in everything he says about the Democratic primary, that he remains very much tethered to the Clintons. In fact, his arrogance was such that he didn't even bother to feign impartiality. William Ayres??!! Come on! Interestingly, Hillary chimed right in, didn't miss a beat, as if she and George had conspired on the question. Stephanopoulos is as partisan as they come. The "debate" was hardly such. A geniune travesty.Mike G

I am angry about what I saw last night. It was clear from the beginning that the Charlie and George were gunning for Obama. And the creepiest comment for me was from George, supposedly in the form of a question, when he asked Obama how he would "handle" the continuous loops of media coverage of sermons by Rev Wright during his presidency- it was a thinly veiled threat to Obama and the rest of us! I found Charlie's hammering on Obama about social security taxes and raising the capital gains tax, as another thinly veiled way to catch the candidates saying they "might raise taxes" - never acknowledging the important distinctions between eliminating tax cuts for the rich and being realistic about how social security will be made solvent. So now McCain and the Republicans can say "Democrats will raise taxes", they have nothing else to cover up their mortgaging of this country to pay for their war and their tax cuts for the rich! And then....the flag pins!! We really needed to focus on that. I didn't realize that flag pins were a measure of patriotism and the ability of a candidate to turn this country around from years of failed policies. Thanks George, thanks Charlie, you had your moment, you let us all know that ABC and your form of journalism is not concerned with substance, only attack politics. Shame on you both.

Flag pins, Ayers, Wright...and other total unmitigated nonsense. Your network slimed itself to a new low. We have a war with soldiers dying every day, the elderly living on pet food, people of all ages who are going without out necessary medical care for things like cancer, the unemployed who are no longer eligible for Unemployment Benefits, we have the hungry and the homeless on every street corner, our infrastructure is collapsing, etc...and YOUR STUPID MODERATORS ARE ASKING ABOUT FREAKING BS LIKE FLAG PINS? GMAB! You need to take your collective heads out of whatever dark place they have been and get a GIANT clue as to why people are bitter and want a change. What you laughingly put on as a debate was an insult and a joke to the American public. Maybe you should ge asking yourself if YOU and the Mods love America? You sure as hell did everything possible to insult the intelligence of its citizens last evening. That tells me that you and those two clowns you had moderating this joke sure as heck do not love our nation. JMHO

many thanks to the moderators for making last night's debate a mockery of this process and an overall waste of time. I was shocked to see these two "journalists" squander what was probably the last time we will see Senators Clinton and Obama debate. And here I had been giving the Bush administration all the credit for turning our country into an international joke.

Let us not forget that George Stephanopoulos was part of the Bill Clinton White House. Maybe Sen. Obama should wear 50 lapel pins, you know, if he were really patriotic. . . Oh, but wait, then he'd be leaving out Washington, D.C. . .. What to do, what to do!How 'bout we all take a deep breath and focus on the issue of how either candidate would rebuild America's foundation, following eight years of destruction.Let's start with the troops -- a full 20 percent of whom have either depression or post-traumatic stress disorder. Thanks, dubya for your support. How would Senators Obama and Clinton treat these men and women?Next, let's look at children and education.OK, how 'bout more than a minute on gas? Now, onto our relations with other countries: How do we regain our position as moral leaders? I KNOW, I know -- by wearing lapel pins!!!!I thought ABC could/would do a better job with the debate; this was embarrassing.

I watched the debate, thought the questions were tough and made both candidates uncomfortable at times but thought it made Senator Obama appear more presidential. Most of the news media has been too afraid to ask these questions point blank to allow him to respond in a setting like this for fear of who knows what. Obama ended up getting more air time as a result of Hillary and the moderators' tag teaming on certain questions but she is an American and has the right to have concerns as well about who will lead this country.I'm surprised of all this hoopla because I thought both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton had good responses to these questions that are really still in the back of many voters minds and say much about a person's character.I am relieved to hear both responses on supporting Israel and our other Allies in the Middle East.

When I heard who was to moderate the debate, I was surprised George S was chosen due to his strong association with the Clinton's, so I was not surprised at his ignorant, tabloid questions. I was very disappointed, tho, In Charlie Gibson, someone I very much like and admire. It was beneath him to be playing for ratings, rather than ask questions relevant to the election. Like Iraq and the economy taking a back seat to gossip and personality slamming. While I support Obama and think he was treated grossly unfair, that is not the sole purpose of this comment. It was like watching Fox news. How beneath ABC.

My wife and I have watched ABC news nightly for decades. However, after watching the first 45 minutes of this debate, we no longer will watch ABC news. After the first 45 minutes of the program, I turned to my wife and asked, "When are they going to ask a question that is relevant to our lives and our country and to the official duties of the Office of the President?" In the future, we'll get the answers to those questions from another news source.

Spending an hour on guilt-by-association gotchas insults viewers distracts the public from truly important issues which will impact the future of the country and the planet. George Stephanopoulos' Sunday morning show has been on my watch list. No more. And Charles Gibson's nonsense on the capital gains tax was economic idiocy. Yes, there is a short-term gain in revenues when the tax declines because stock owners take profits. But over the long term, the government loses revenue. Just ask the hedge fund manager with the 3 billion dollar income hidden as capital gains what will happen to his taxes. Look at the economic performance over the last seven years following the Bush tax cuts. The economy is flat,, and the debt has exploded. ABC News offered propaganda, not journalism.

George and Charlie are seriously out of touch. They are dragging ABC news to the status of FOX news.Charlie is clearly worried about HIS money. Charlie is so out of touch he thinks the middle class is $250K a year, or worries about the limit on SS tax set at $95K.George has just lost his mind. I'm not sure what he is thinking, maybe he isn't thinking at all. While we have a president who has made a shambles of this country, all ABC can do is bring up stupid Internet rumors or try to get Clinton to admit she lied. What a waste of air-time.George and Charlie owe the American people and an appology for wasting viewer's time. Charlie and George need to get out and talk to regular Americans. most of whom have no future at all now. We have illegals pouring across the border, no jobs left, soaring health care costs, a record deficit, a war that can't be ended, and all Charlie and George can worry about are landings in Bosnia and lapel pins and how their own taxes will change. Talk about out of touch!!

Congratulations, ABC. With this most recent debate, you've proven that you've become totally ineligible to be called a "NEWS organization." Your panelists allowed Sean Hannity to determine the questions and they limited their field to inane, vacuous and irrelevant. You had 90 minutes to ask probing, well considered questions of two Democratic Presidential candidates and you asked them about flag lapel pins and someone who committed a crime that's 40 years old. Bravo! That's they way to help us parse who we will elect as the next president. Those are really important issues!Should anyone make the mistake of allowing you to host debates in the future, might I suggest the following:Get a moderator or two without a personal agenda...have them ask questions that are relevant...give them a test to make sure that they can think for themselves...prohibit them from communing with 3rd rate cable hacks who wouldn't know objective journalism from a guava. With all that America has to deal with right now, might that 90 minutes have better served us if you had asked about how the candidates will fix the economy, how they feel about pre-emptive war, their positions on torture and whether they feel that the Presidency is closer to a monarchy than to a co-equal branch of government?Surely there is hope that ABC can recognize what a farce they staged on Wednesday and mend their fololish ways. Note to management: a serious discourse on government does not have to get the same ratings as American Idol. America owns the airwaves and WE give you license to use them....you're walking on very thin ice and the next President would be wise to review your next license application carefully. An IQ test for management should be required. News is NOT entertainment and we did not tune into the debate for the laugh track. Consign Stephanopolis to some corner where he can do less harm than he did Wednesday night.

I respect both candidates. I watched the debate in order to get a better sense of where the candidates stand on the issues.Instead of getting input on what matters, I got 40 minutes of mud-slinging attacks from the moderators that did nothing but harm both of the candidates.I think you can agree, looking at the transcript, that the first half of the debate attacked the candidates' character on exactly the sorts of issues that Americans are tired of hearing about. By bringing up such questions as debatable contact between Barack Obama and William Ayers, you distract Americans from the real issues that face us and only give rise to more speculation, email rumors and general mud-slinging that we don't need if we are to win this election. By embarrassing Hillary Clinton again on the "Bosnia-gate" issue, which has already been rehashed ad nauseam in the news media, you demean her and yourselves.I am fully aware that George Stephanopoulos has strong connections to the Clinton family and former Clinton administration. That you would allow someone with his credentials to moderate a supposedly impartial debate in the first place is astonishing. Looking at news coverage this morning, it is evident how strongly the initial lines of questioning favored Hillary Clinton and attacked Barack Obama. This is not objective journalism and you should be ashamed to call yourselves "fair and balanced". I am also fully aware that George was on the Sean Hannity show the day prior to the debate, hashing over questions that Hannity thought should be asked of the candidates during the debate. We all know that Fox News is opinion news. George's questions during your so-called debate betrayed these conversations with Fox, and shed a nasty light on ABC as a result.I am outraged that a news corporation that I formerly respected and looked to would stage such an unprofessional, negative and demeaning debate.

Look at what God-fearing Christian white GW Bush has done to our country. Look at the Clinton trade deal with NAFTA and what Clinton did with the legal system. With illegals pouring across the border and taking the few jobs left, other US jobs exported at increasing rates, a war in the wrong country that has destabilized the middle east with no end in sight, the largest deficit in history, the dollar sinking like a rock, and uncontrolled big business in our healthcare industry we are worried about an Internet lapel pin false rumor, a few things someone's minister said, if someone exaggerated about landing in Bosnia, and if people are really bitter or not.We stupidly allow people making $200k OR MORE to take up national debate time whining about capital gains taxes or losing Social Secuirty tax limits for those making over $95K a year.If anyone is an out of touch it is the people who think ABC put on a worthwile debate. Charlie Gibson is a total fool. He has no idea how middle class people live, and Georgie is probably manuvering for a place on FOX news or in a new Republican Whitehouse. The bosses at ABC have lost their minds if they keep those two guys on staff. What a ship of fools we have become. Some people are actually happy with this debate. I tried to watch the so-called "Debate", but had to turn to CSI: New York and a re-run of Law and Order. I just couldn't take it after only 10 minutes. George, I could understand, afterall he's a former Clinton insider, but Charlie...I'm disappointed. I've lost ALL respect for ABC news. I gues I'll stick to NBC Nightly News. They're not much better, so I'll keep being a CNN junkie. That whole episode was a pathetic excuse for journalism, it's as if I was watchin FOX News. I just hope and pray to God that most Americans don't vote based on the garbage you sorry excuses for journalists and media outlets expound. After this spectacle, I hope Obama's campaign will not participate in any more debacles, I mean debates.
