Obama, McCain, or Hillary, in the end does it REALLY make a difference? |
|
Let me start this saying I am an Obama supporter. He seems like the only one who MAY not fit the mold, but hopefully we'll find out over the next four years. Until he proves me wrong, I'm sticking by my opinion of all politicians.
Truth is, THEY ARE ALL POLITICIANS. They pander to what their base wants to hear and try to steal a few from the other side. They are all about what is best for them. If they weren't, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. We've had Democrats and Republicans in the White House and holding majorities ni the legislative branch and nothing has really changed. Every time you vote it is for the lesser of two evils. We have just been programmed to believe it makes a difference. Economies go up and down, regardless of who's in charge. Tell me how anyone's life has really changed because of who's in charge. I don't mean the way we feel about things, I mean how has it REALLY changed. I consider myself liberal, but I'm also a realist. The government SHOULD take care of those who can't take care of themselves, but only a fool would DEPEND on it. It won't happen. That's why, as individuals, we should take care of one another. Period.

between Democrats and Republicans. We've have unbroken Republican rule for close to 30 years (discounting the Clinton/DLC years which are neutral, at best), but Democrats CAN change peoples' lives on a fundamental level.
It starts with the belief that the government is part of the solution, not the problem. HUD works, when you don't put criminals in charge of it to loot it. Properly run and funded welfare programs can lift people out of poverty - improperly run and underfunded programs trap people in poverty. The first thing republicans do (as clinton did with his republican 'welfare reform') is cut welfare funding which makes it non-functional, giving them a reason to eliminate it.
Democrats gave us Social Security and Medicare; Republicans diverted funds from them so they will not meet their obligations, and claim that because they won't meet their obligations they must be scrapped.
The first thing to do is remove from government the parties which do not believe in government, but in corporations - the Republicans and the DLC. THEN you will see politicians who believe in the transformative power of government accomplishing what they are there to do.

"Tell me how anyone's life has really changed because of who's in charge."
Why don't you ask the 4000+ Americans dead in Chimp's War.
Next question.
