Honest, Hillary supporters... don't you agree the moderators skewed the debate against Obama? |
|
I don't want to appear "holier than thou." This is really a case, though, that if the situation had been reversed, I think I'd recognize it and admit it. Although I'm firmly in Obama's camp, it seemed so lopsided and petty in the questioning that even I had to laugh, along with the outrage.
Gibson and Steph not only did a terrible, tabloid job, but they did it in a ridiculously unbalanced way. What I'd like to hear is if there are Hillary supporters who agree.

1. You do not have to ask the question. They have been saying "Hillary has been getting this for weeks" |

They know what is going on.

I didn't watch the debate so I can't what I think about it.
But what I can say is this, had this been Hillary the Obama camp would have been throwing roses at the feet of Gibson and Stephie.

I seem to recall that Hillary received some support from Obama supporters after the MSNBC debate, and those injustices pale compared to these.

But again, the shit storm we see here today would have been a volcanic orgy lovefest for ABC if they "went after" Clinton.

I thought Chelsea should have walked down off the stage and slapped the little shit for brains that asked her the question about her father.
I have posted quite vociferously on how stupid and irrelevant the whole crown royal issue was.
I think KO is getting crazy and veering over the line of foaming at the mouth lunatic.
Clinton followers will not for even one second take off the blinders and admit that last night was a joke for both candidates, all democrats and the nation as a whole. If you really can't see just how bad last night was for your hero as well; then I really hope she does win the nomination just so that we point our fingers and laugh every time McCain and the MSM pull the rug out and she slams her face into the ground.

|
Reality not welcome.
And in case you didn't notice, condemnation of last night's debate was pretty universal except for the small handful of Clinton supporters who like the fact that Obama got attacked more.

Do you ever consider leaving the US? In '04, I swore that I would move to Japan if Bush won. But it's hard with the kids to think about. But if McCain wins this year, I really don't think I could handle it. What about you?

but France is an expensive place to live, and being a Tax accountant is not much of a transferable position per se.
My only hope is that my daughter just married a Harvard Grad, and she will be graduating from there too next year, so maybe she can finance me and my husbands' move in the not so far away future. :)

I also wish more Americans could have the opportunity to live abroad. It can really give one a new perspective and a new appreciation for both the positive and negative sides of our country and our place in the world community.
So, of course, that aspect of Barack's own life experience is another plus in my book.

6. To admit that they would have to recognize that it could damage Clinton |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 12:25 PM by DJ13
Most Americans dont like seeing someone beat up in a 3 to 1 contest, it triggers a reaction of feeling sorry for the person getting beat upon.
Since the ABC debate came across as a pro-Clinton hit job, Hillary will be the one most hurt by this clumsy, obvious attempt to gang up on Obama.
No, the Clinton supporters wont see that it was "skewed" in her favor, as then they have to confront the fact that their candidate came out looking bad.

10. I'll be very frank with you: no. |
|
Although the questions for BOTH candidates were set in a very "gotcha" way: "Will you make a firm commitment tonight..." Oh, come on! However the problem was not the questions themselves, the problem was how Obama handled those questions. He did poorly. He let them get under his skin. He seemed shaken and a little angry. And his answers on the issues questions were poor; he seemed to grasp for bits of data he reviewed on his flashcards with his handlers. He stuttered his way through the Iran question. It simply was not a good performance.
I am not one who tends to blame the messenger in these circumstances. Certainly these debates can always be better, but they've been far worse than this, and Obama should have been better prepared.

12. I thought it was very balanced |
|
And I trust myself more than I trust most of those here in either camp... because I don't see a huge difference between the two, I voted Edwards, and I honestly don't think an Obama administration would be measurably different than a Clinton administration. I don't give an airborne rodent's derriere which one of them becomes prez.
I thought both candidates were given tough questions in equal measure. And I think both candidates handled them equally well. I do think the questions were stupid in some cases... stupid like some of the asinine arguments here. I'm sick of the Bosnia shit... and I'm sick of the bitter shit... in equal measure.
What's the deal? Does the whole fucking world need to grow the hell up or what??

:eyes:
As I've said elsewhere, I've stuck up for Hillary in past debates when I thought the moderators were unfair. I never cheered and I didn't say Hillary didn't get "nailed", perhaps you should reread my post. I think Hillary tends to have higher highs and lower lows in debates. Last night, I thought she did very well on policy questions, but some of her gaffe pushing was ridiculous. If that had been in the second half instead of the first half, I think the perception about Hillary's performance would be a bit different. Obama was off his game; putting him on the defensive at the start certainly hurt him for the remainder.

They KNEW if they went after Obama that Clinton would join in. They also know that when she goes negative, she loses points. Neither of the candidates came out looking great, but that's exactly what they wanted. The game was to make the Dems look less than Presidential & I think they succeeded. I am not celebrating any of this crap. I support Obama, my 3rd choice, but I resent the hell out these jackasses making either one of our candidates look bad. IT SUCKS! I do think they hurt Clinton more than they hurt Obama, but I could be wrong & either way it pisses me off! :grr:
