What's the diff between "State Delegates" and individual vote cast
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 02:59 PM by 4themind
in a caucus? I noticed that on CNN.com they used the term "State Del" with the following caption:

"State Del*: Instead of releasing raw caucus vote totals, some state parties release the total number of delegates to county or state conventions each candidate is expected to receive. In some cases, a presidential preference vote is held in conjunction with precinct caucuses, and the raw numbers from these votes appear in the State Delegates column. "

However on thegreenpapers.com and on Realpolitics.com this term is used in the popular vote totals. My main question is what do these "State delegates" represent? What are these "presidential preference votes" and which states use these?
*Also please forgive missing "t's" I have a problem with my keyboard
