What I got from the "debate" was that Senator Clinton is better at
smiling and bobbing and weaving, appearing to have a ready answer for even the most vapid question the Disney employees could throw at her. Senator Obama, on the other hand, seemed genuinely engaged in the present, upset that these questions were taking up our time and wrestling with the crooked game as well as the more substantive issues.

Despite (or maybe because of) her skills, I just don't trust Clinton.

1. Disney and Clinton were definitely on the same page, anyway.
It looked as if Disney gave Clinton the whole plan including the script ahead of time, while telling Obama they would only be asking questions of substance and importance to the voters' lives.

Of course that didn't happen, but that's the way it came across to me.

than to anyone else. They were just protecting their investment.

4. I"m an Obama fan, but I'll admit she looked more polished in delivery than him, HOWEVER
she also practically guaranteed "massive retaliations" against Iran, and again said she'd refuse to talk to ahmenijad (sp).

then she tried to say she'd try diplomacy first....LOL...diplomacy where you shit on the leader and then massively retaliate against him.

diplomacy, not so much.

and I will add, that she looked a little more polished, but you can only polish something unsavory so much.

that having been said, I was a little disappointed in Obama's lack of cohesiveness in responses, and for wavering a few times before coming up with an answer.

Doesn't change my opinion of him as our next president, he just seemed a little off his game. And yes, for you hillary supporters, I'm being honest here.

5. I think those "massive retaliations" are Nuclear, no?
Didn't she say she'd put a "Nuclear Shield" over the Middle East?

9. Not in so many words, but that's the impression I got as well
if the moderators were worth anything, they would have pressed her as to what "massive retaliations" really means.

also, she was springboarding the repub propaganda that its not alright for Iran to have nuclear POWER, (which is different than weapons) -- but its perfectly alright for the extremely unstable Pakistani govt. to have nuke weapons that we PROVIDED to them. (not to mention Isreal)

That's the impression I got.

29. He also said that all options were on the table if Iran attacked Israel.
In my mind, that is codespeak for a nuclear attack. I was a little taken aback by both of their responses on this issue.

24. HRC is megalomaniacal - wants to be policeman for the whole Middle East
and pay the considerable price in terms of U.S. forces and funding.

The European Union has done an outstanding job of maintaining peace within its ever growing borders, while providing excellent health care, education, job opportunities to all its members. Then we have the United Nations and NATO.

But Hillary wants to be at the top of the pyramid and be in charge of the entire Middle East!
She is itching to start her own war against Iran, from the sounds of it. Like I've said before, just put her in a flight suit with a pair of socks to stuff in the crotch.

33. When W was strutting around the carrier flight deck in his flight suit,
there was much discussion about the bulging crotch on his flight suit, and the DU joke was that he must have stuffed a pair of socks in the crotch. That was the carrier with the big "Mission Accomplished" banner.

28. Now that's refreshing.
My thought was that he really did well in the first part. He answered the campaign related questions very well while at the same time pointing out that they are not what is important. She did much better in the second part when the more substantive issues were brought up.

He's got the vision and takes the high road. She's got the policy, history and platform locked.

IMHO, they would make a great team.

10. could be, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on that.
This IS make or break for her, so I would expect her to bone up and practice as much as possible. I think she was well rehearsed rather than knew the questions, because she kept bending her questions to fit what she wanted to say instead of directly answering a few of them.

There are people on this thread (and others) who think that the only way for Senator Clinton to do well is for her to have the questions in advance?
Where on earth do/did you people go to school?

8.  I don't trust either of them
I understand Obama want's to talk about issues and passon the old ideals of flinging mud but there is no way to avoid this when the time comes to debate McCain.

Hillary knows this and Obama want's to somehow trust in the people to change this ,not going to happen .

18. Then you missed alot
Clinton showed that she has a signifcant grasp of the issues and is deeply knowledgeable about the problems that face Americans and how to best address them.

Clinton showed that she is a woman of class and of conviction.

Obama showed that he is just not ready for the job.

He was out classed, out fought.

35. That would make her "more polished" ..
wouldn't it? However, Obama won.

Obama won. He was presidential, attacked mccain, and didn't let hilary's standing in for mccain ruffle him. IN fact he got some zingers to her pitiful relentless whinging.

"This was a brilliant moment for Obama to strike back, and he did, slapping Clinton with a zinger: Her husband, as president, had formally pardoned two members of the underground organization, whereas he just happened to know a former member.

The New York senator stood there completely stunned by this swift comeback; she was becoming too accustomed to Senator Obama gentlemanly presidential responses".

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph ...

"Barack Obama put it well when he spoke of how the two anchors of this evening's debate (and so much of our elitist media & punditocracy) seem interested mainly in "manufactured issues"-- Jeremiah Wright, dodging bullets in Tuzla, flag lapel pins and Bill Ayers-- a major reason so many decent and generous Americans tune out this media."

And this sounds good.. "Pain trickles up" is how Obama tonight described John McCain's economic policies. That smart riff brought pain to Charles Gibson's face.."

"to have a ready answer for even the most vapid question" when you know what the questions are gonna be. Imagine how great it would be if, hypothetically, one of the moderators was a former employee! Hell, then you could even write some of the questions!
