"Why do liberals complain when their candidates are asked real questions?" |
|
That's a question posted by an ABC viewer that was very happy with the debates...
So... if one takes that the questions asked last night were appropriate and "real", then are these are the questions that ABC will ask of John McCain during the presidential debates?
1) "Eight years ago, there was a rumor that you had fathered a black child out of wedlock. Is the thought of having sex with a black woman distasteful to you?"
2) "You were tortured while being held captive as a POW... What assurances can you give that you weren't turned into a double agent for the 'communists'?"
3) "How can we be sure you are physically healthy when you refuse to release all your medical records? Was the initial stages of senility discussed at your recent medical conference? Why not?"
4) "Loyalty and family are important issues to many voters. Why did you divorce your first wife who not only was the mother of your children, but had waited faithfully for you during the years you were held captive? Was the fact that your current wife was younger and richer have anything to do with your reasoning?"
5) Your friend and spiritual adviser, Rev. John Hagee says that the Catholic Church is "The Great Whore of Revelation 17," as well as a "false cult system,"... Is it "Christian" to say these things? Do you believe them to be true? If not, why haven't you publicly denounced both him and his teachings?
What's good for the goose...

1. Absolutely. . .and those questions need to be demanded to be |
|
asked by ABC at the next opportunity to speak with John McCain.

3. Good questions! Save them for the first debate McCain is in |
|
and send them to the moderators. Or if you haven't e-mailed ABC yet, these would be good ones to mail them. :hi:

4. I'm sure when MSNBC ganged up on Hilary in their debate, the Bots |
|
were just as outraged that they didn't ask "substantive" questions.

7. Actually I didn't like it when MSNBC clowns, Russert and Matthews |
|
asked unfair questions of the various dems, but I'm tired of fighting over the distinction of what constitutes a "fair" question of Clinton. There seems to be very little that is critical which falls under the definition of "fair" to a Clinton supporter.

5. Those are side-issues. We need to know why he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin at all times |
|
That's the kind of "character" we need to know about. ABC News agrees with me. :eyes:

8. You don't get it, you can ask somebody any fucking question. The measure |
|
of the candidate is how they handle it.

Yes, "you can ask somebody any fucking question..."
However, just because you can ask something, doesn't necessarily mean that the question is the best one to be asked.
People are -not- wondering why a flag pin isn't worn, or about a candidate's childhood friends, or even how they handled a spouse cheating.
Instead...
People are wondering how they can afford gasoline.
People are wondering how they are going to manage to make ends meet after the price of groceries has shot up.
People are wondering why they have to struggle with paying bills, but when a bank is in trouble the government bails it out.
People are wondering why they now have to worry about the water they drink, the meat they purchase, or the toys they buy for their children.
People are wondering if they will ever again see their mother/father/sister/brother/child who is now in Iraq.
People are wondering how they or their parents will be able to afford their medication.
These are the questions that are being asked by my co-workers and friends, both liberal and conservative. If you don't understand what issues are truly worth discussing on a nationally televised program, then YOU don't get it.
Maybe the measure of a candidate is how they handle a question... However, the measure of a moderator, commentator or network is what questions they deem are important enough to ask.

No... should it?
Again, the issue isn't what Obama (or Hillary) stand for. The issue is that two men with the resources of a major television network spent so much time not even trying to find out, but asked questions that would be more at place on "Entertainment Tonight".
