Gregory took a voicemail question from a Kentucky caller who asked "How far are we going to go expecting Presidential candidates to never have any acquaintances with people with questionable stuff in their past?"

Gregory agreed it was a good question. "When does guilt by association go too far?" Harold Ford Jr piped in and said that he agreed with the caller that we had taken this line of questioning too far. Ford Jr. said he thought Obama handled that issue pretty well last night.

Scarborough jumped in and basically said that "guilt by association" is more important for Barack Obama because he's only been in Washington for one year and no one knows who he is. Joe said there's no comparison to how little people know about Obama and how well they know McCain.

Rachel tried to comment but Harold Ford spoke up and said that Joe makes a good point but how far back can we go. He said Wright would be a bigger thing than Ayers. Joe agreed.

Rachel finally got her choice to speak up and she said "guilt by association" politics was all a choice by the candidates' opponents. (Joe tried to interrupt her and Rachel said "Joe, let me get my point out first and then you can dismiss me.")

She said this comes up because the candidates decide to use this against their opponents. She then commented how no one has brought up the fact that John McCain's friend and Florida finance co-chair was caught in the bathroom trying to pay a man/teen for some shady action. She said no one has brought this up because the candidates running against McCain haven't gone there.

She was brilliant. She shut Joe up. And later, before he stomped off, he got pissy about Rachel making comments about what people do in bathrooms, LOL.
