DU admins: I post publically to plead with you....
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 07:32 PM by HawkeyeX
that we move from GD-P to GD-GE as soon as PA primaries are over. By process of elimination, if Hillary cannot get past the 18% benchmark in the PA primary (where she has to win by that much), then it is virtually over for Hillary. Pelosi already let us know that the SD will not override the will of the delegates, and we all know Obama has been leading the delegate race by over 140. Therefore, Obama will be the eventual nominee, and I'm sure Howard Dean will have a plan in place by the NC/IN primaries to ensure that whoever is leading after the PA primaries will be the nominee.

I would like to see some sense of civility back on this board - it has been a long primary and if we let it continue past April, I'm not even sure if I want to continue with DU.

Dean is already urging the SD's to pick now - he doesn't want to wait too long, and I agree with his stance on that. I suggest we do the same.

Hill is still pulling a large number of Dem votes, so she's entitled to stay in the race until she is defeated handily.

If Barack wins PA by 5 to 10 points, I withdraw my objection.

So it's long past time that DU moves on to the GE so we can prepare to eviscerate McCain easily.

27. If its civility you want, I challenge you to challenge some of the Obama supporters.
I'm a Clinton supporter and an Obama supporter. I think both camps do a pretty lousy job of backing up their assertions with evidence. I also think that the lack of civility is a problem in both camps.

Since the platforms and records of our two candidates are virtually identical and starkly different from McCain's, what is to prevent us from eviscerating McCain now?

22. nobody's "afraid" of anything--it is simply a waste of time
she's already lost, so why are we even talking about her? we don't argue about whether Biden or Kucinich is better than Obama, or Edwards, so why should we be talking about her? I don't even think of her as a "candidate" anymore. she was voted off the island some time ago.

31. We don't talk about Biden, Edwards or Kucinich because they are no longer in the race.
Clinton is still in the race. As bad as Obama supporters want it to be so, he hasn't won yet. She has by no means been voted off the island. That may happen and it may happen soon, but it most assuredly has not happened yet.

Let the people have their say.

If you think it's a waste of time and no longer see Clinton as a candidate, don't bother with gd:p. Leave it to those who still feel there is a primary going on.

It's democracy and that's the way I like it.

23. After the PA Primary, both candidates will be in the race
So I suppose I'll have to go somewhere else if the Clinton Supporters are censored and can't be excited and get behind her going into the other primaries. It would be saying, even though your candidate is still in the race, you can't post anything about her on DU. The person who started this post is suggesting a Marxist type control of DU much like saying the elite know what's best for the underlings. This should give everyone an idea what were dealing with when people post open threads like this.

16. I totally agree--it is like playing the best 3 out of 5, then continuing to play
"just in case" the other person wins the 4th and 5th--to what end?

many Hillary worshippers seem like nasty "gotcha" 5th-graders whose obvious distortions are just fodder for fights. There is no sense in pretending that "she has a chance," because she doesn't. it's merely All About Hillary, 24/7, that is the only reason she stays in, for the attention and to do damage to Obama, for some unfathomable reason, because supposedly they are on the same team, and it is beyond embarrassing to see someone become the Katherine Harris slow-motion train wreck of the Democratic Party.

18. Let the people vote
All the people.

I fully agree that it appears in all likely hood that Obama will be the nominee but let people vote. Let him clinch the nomination. It took B. Clinton 48 states to clinch the nomination and the repuke's already had their nominee (GHWB).

Having this drawn out race, imo, isn't going to hurt the eventual nominee...it's some of the tactics that might, and you can blame HRC for a lot of that but until Obama seals the deal, the race isn't over.

Why the hell do you think some Democrats are so angry? Hillary is absolutely destroying the party and the worst part of that is she is helping McCain become president. Frankly, I think that is her true aim ~~ make John McCain president...because with his age, I doubt if he makes it to the end of his term. She is looking at 2012. This is a women ~~ no matter what the cost to anyone else ~~ who will not be denied. What she wants is the most important thing in her life.

You who support Hillary are NOT part of the solution, but are the ultimate problem. She needs to go ~~ if you care about the Democratic Party, do us all a favor and see that she quits ASAP.

And, no, I have not always supported Obama. I supported Kucinich and then Edwards...so please don't come back with some inane Obama Kool Aid remark.

60. As far as the sense of civility, that could be accomplished if each person here wanted it.
The anonymity of this message board makes it very easy for some posters to say some really vile things about the candidates and other posters. If we all acted like grownups, we could have civility now regardless of how the nomination process takes.

As far as the SD votes, I don't think that Pelosi, Dean or anyone else can say for sure how they are going to pledge and whether it will be with the popular vote or not. They are in place to vote their conscience for the candidate that they feel has the best chance to win the election. I'm in favor of letting it play out before assuming which candidate will be the eventual nominee.
