Wow... I mean wow... I just put five (5) on my new "ignore" list
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 07:55 PM by featherman
and GD-P turned reasonable. I had figured that the writing was on the wall after Wisconsin and anybody at all politically savvy would realize it and stop with the hate screed against our OBVIOUS nominee, Barack Obama.

I had 15 on at that time and took them all off. What the heck... they'd all slowly come around, right? Boy, was I wrong.

I held out until today when a handful of (must be) trolls began crowing with glee about the ABC monitors and their line of questions designed to demean and diminish our General Election candidate for the sole benefit of John McCain and the GOP. Hey... it's ABC for God's sake. Hasn't anybody paid attention for the past 28 years and more? These guys are a close second to Faux in pimping for the GOP. Matter of record.

That these five nominal "dems" were so gleeful about last night's smarmy, shallow, condescending GOP hit job... well I can go to the FR for that kind of thing.
Goodbye and good luck. These five are on permanent ignore because I have no doubt they are trolls who will continue to attack Obama through the GE.

I'm sure many of the rest of you want to continue to play with them but I don't need the aggravation. I come here for political news.

The other is trying for 10,000 posts in their first month. Moving that one to Charlie Brown's Teacher status was for blood pressure reasons.

i can handle people disagreeing, it's when they act like Republicans and make stupid arguments that makes me want to ignore them.

i can deal with Hillary supporters, most people I know and most of my family prefers Hillary and it's no big deal.

but if it's a bunch of crap used against him, that is not worth arguing over.

I've been doing it since the primaries began, and I haven't counted lately, but I suspect there must be about 900 or so of those "irrational, insulting and/or obnoxious posters on there, and you're right, the new ones just keep popping up every day like whack-a-moles.

It makes it a lot easier to find threads worth reading.

One of the funny consequences is I can't read most of the top threads on the "Greatest Threads" page any more. The weirdos all seem to recommend each others' threads constantly.

In the four years that I've been on DU, I've only ever put one person on ignore, and he was banned shortly afterwords and appeared on another site that shall remain nameless. But there's a few Clintonistas here that are just obnoxious beyond all words, and I can't take it anymore.

I can't wait for this primary to be over, and for when Obama is the nominee. Maybe then they'll shut up, but I doubt it, like you said.

I have no-one on ignore.

I very much want a dem in the WH next year.
I think Hillary is the better candidate even though I anticipate she would piss me off mightily as president. At this point I think Obama is the likely nominee. I believe Hillary will work damn hard to help elect him. He has much to learn. They are BOTH great candidates. Hillary is better prepared.

Cheers.

You would think they are the majority of the democratic party base from their prominence in elected office, and at least a sizable minority of DU given how much their apologists post here.

Then you look at this poll:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=5567638&mesg_id=5567638

Out of 285 votes, the DLCers only got 6, a paltry 2%.

69. Please dont ignore them
i mean, you should ignore them in the sense of being detached emotionally from their propaganda, but people who dont believe in fairness or rational conversation need to be confronted on it, otherwise they will continue to fester.

76. It doesn't work that way.
They know what they are doing and thrive on the attention. Ignoring them robs them of their oxygen.

I've got 7 on ignore - what's curious is none are recent freepers. The youngest one came on in 04. The freepers tend to get themselves TS'd out while they're still young. Mine are all DLCers who are, IMO, worse than any freeper - they are the fifth column in my party. If they want to fester, they're free to do it without my input. I don't need the aggravation.

78. I see no problem with having an ignore list
Why should I have to read around the ramblings of obnoxious attention whores?

The DU experience should be what I make it. And it that means adjusting it so I don't have to deal with a bunch of mischief-making trolls, then so be it.

71. Having it on makes this thread readable...
Of course most of my small ignore list (and I'm sure a couple of the faceless wonders I'm seeing here) mewl like stuck cats about this subject, going on about “chilling of dissent”, “echo-chambers” and “how dare you NOT pay attention to me”.

Pity the drama queens and their rusty (from exploding tears) tiaras. :)

And three cheers for thread readability.
