"Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?"
What the fuck is that? Do you really think if wright was a white pastor ,and had said the same exact things, his patriotism for his country would be questioned? Of course not.

I know it wouldnt have looked good on national tv for obama to say so, but man, i wish SOMEONE would tell georgie "how the fuck dare you."

2. The truth is white pastors have said truly horrible things
and they will never be called on them.

While, Wright's comments were wrenched out of context, his whole highly successful and respected career was trashed and he was made into a cartoon in our whore media. He has NOTHING to apologize for.

10. Exactly. And, it did happen. I don't have the link at hand
but a bunch of pastors signed a letter EXCORIATING the media for their hit job.

George is to sold out to be in the loop.

...the "spirtitual leader", "mentor", and pseudo-father of a Presidential candidate for 20 years.

If you want to call them on their message, go ahead.

11. Rev Wright Is A Great Man
It's too bad someone can't take a few of George's more stupid statements and make a little video that would play 24/7. I am pretty sure he could be made out to look like any number of things. It's just not right to trash a man with blips. What about Hagee, Robertson and probably hundreds of other ministers of other races?

and has many more honorary ones. He has three Presidential Commendations and most of all, he built that south side congregation from a handful of people into a community of thousands. That ministered to the poor, that tried to shore up kids in failing public schools, that tried to support the local gay community, that tried to reach out to thinking people.

And, the right wing nuts thought they could smear him?

There are good men, very good men who do so much for so many that they acquire a kind of teflon. The Reverend Wright is one of those men and rightfully so.

That our whore media tried to tarnish this man is not surprising.

That they were unsuccessful should give us all hope for the future of this country.

15. Good Way Of Looking At It
I have a tendency to sputter but you are right. The MSM has been trying to ruin Rev Wright for weeks. I am glad it hasn't stuck. Instead of looking at the thousands of people he helped, they get stuck on a phrase. I remember the 60s, the struggles and the fight for what was right. Men like Rev Wright did so much because it was the right thing to do. When you are working for civil rights and peace you talk to everyone. We haven't been talking, we have been taken to war by chicken hawks and they still get a pass by the MSM.

At one point I was worried about the IRS trumping charges because of what they are trying to do to the UCC. Senator Obama was asked to speak at the convention and they accused him of making a stump speech. I don't know if you read it or not but I sure didn't see anything political in it. I am thankful I was silly in my worry about the senator's home church.

My husband is now on disability and home all of the time. I have made him stop trying to watch the news or cable shows with the exception of Olbermann. He yells at the TV worse than I do. There is no news any more. You hear nothing about the economy, Iraq and investigative reporting seems to have disappeared. At times you don't know if you are watching news or tabloid TV. Heavy sigh

16. Just a thought. Try to get him to watch Amy Goodman in the morning.
You can find her show on your network here: www.democracynow.org

Usually, the stories she covers take weeks to come up in the corporate media.

And on the other hand, if you are paying attention, you have to be angry.

18. Any white pastor who cursed blacks in his church the way Wright curses whites would have been run
out of town a long time ago. And no white presidential candidate would have been sitting in his church listening to his racist bile for 20 years and pretending not to hear anything offensive.

19. Wright is not a racist. But you know that and just want to repeat it for the sake of being an ass.
He was cursing those responsible for slavery. Its not his fault america enslaved black people and made them suffer injustice for so long.

If some white pastor was cursing white people for slavery in the way wright has, in no way would that pastors patriotism be questioned.

Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 10:45 AM by Seabiscuit
And Obama's comments about small town Americans and his comment about his grandmother's supposedly racist remark about a black man that scared her in the street showing she's just a "typical white person" shows Obama is cut from the same mold as Wright.

And my point stands as strong as ever, no white pastors patriotism would be questioned if he made the same comments as wright.

And any white presidential candidate who attended a church for 20 years whose pastor made remarks like that about blacks would have been given a much harder time than Obama was about it all.

27. I listened and read whole sermons, and wright is still not a racist.
And ill say again, any white pastor making the same comments that wright made would not have his patriotism questioned like wright. Why on earth are you suggesting a white pastor would be preaching about black peoples accountability for things like slavery and american foreign policy?

I had a Sunday school teacher tell me the best knife to use when killing an "N-word" was a hawksbill knife -

and then he showed me one.

This was on an Easter Sunday at a Southern Baptist Church

Slime whoever you want to with any generalization you can come up with and then you don't actually have to think or feel.

Of course, if they did, they'd probably ask him, "Do you think Senator Obama loves America as much as you do?" or "Why doesn't Senator Obama where a flag pin?" or "Why is Senator Obama a member of the Weather Underground?" Idiots.
