Survey USA: Obama leading Hillary in Indiana by 50-45
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 12:30 PM by book_worm
This mirrors the LA Times/Bloomberg Poll from earlier this week which also gave Obama a five point lead in Indiana.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE/IPFW) A poll released Friday morning by the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics located on the campus of IPFW shows Hoosier voters prefer Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton. Obama received 50% of the support and Clinton received 45% with 5% undecided. The poll had a margin of error of +/- 4.2%.

SurveyUSA conducted the poll by telephone on April 14, 15, and 16. 576 registered Hoosiers who are likely to vote in the May primary took part. Respondent households were selected at random

If Obama wins Indiana and North Carolina on May 6th it will be lights out for Hillary, the party will begin to rally around him.

1. You realize this is a 21 point swing? In less than one week?
Hahahahahaha

Survey USA, from April 11-13, Showed Clinton leading 55-39. So Barack is up 11 and Hillary is down 10. WOW!

3. Kinda takes away the SUSA aura of infallibility- obviously there wasn't really that big a shift
and the first poll was obviously badly wrong, given what the LA Times poll showed.

20. I agree...either SUSA was wrong the first time or they're wrong now
Either way...SUSA has been wrong in the past. Cut this crap about it being the ultimate last word in polling. Before Super Tuesday, SUSA was garbage.

19. yes... the demographics from Indiana make it a Hillary state...
but not nearly as much as say WV or KY... they are the ultimate Hillary states... PA is also more of a Hillary state than Indiana...

10. Indiana
First off this IS the most conservate Midwestern state. This proves LA Times wasn't off when they had Obama was a 5 point lead. This also shows bittergate and the debate had a negative Hillary and Postive Obama effect. This suggests even If Hillary can pull off a win In PA.North Carolina and
here could go with Obama and end any delgate advantage PA would give her.Now of course Hillary will
win Kentuckey and West Virginia If she Is still In the race If she loses Indiana and North Carolina.
PR Is also likely to go her way.But South Dakota,Oregon, and possibly Montana are moving for Obama.

13. Something amiss here, SUSA only do election polls for tv or radio

This was probably a poll written by this "mike downes center" and the fieldwork carried out by SUSA, so really its not one of the polls Susa normally conduct.

16. He stands a much better chance of winning them both then winning PA.
Both have the same effect. It just differs in the amount of work between them.

15. Well now I know why the Clintons are putting more attention into that state lately.
This is good news because Obama is not facing a gigantic Clinton lead like he had to face in PA. After PA he will be able to campaign there to help solidify his lead.

Clinton is likely going to walk away with a few delegates from PA but if she does not follow that up with a Win in Indiana. The math will go astronomical against her and this will be virtually over.

Remember that every state she does not win big in is bad for her Campaign.

So this is good news!! But don't assume it to be the truth!! Please Phonebank!!

17. oh now i see, SUSA only did the "fieldwork" not the poll writing

So its not one of their normal polls. Its a mike downs center poll with Susa just putting it through their phone system.

23. Its not a real SUSA poll
and don't worry, bad polling doesn't change many voters opinions.

My guess is someone is doing this to help Obama raise money, to make it appear he's still viable if Clinton wins PA.

26. At the rate the new donors are flooding in?
I will be serious here. I think he may surpass 40 million for April!!

And of course he is still viable if Clinton wins PA. Unless she wins by 100 percent.

29. not a real susa poll? why do they advertise it on their site then?
and also this isn't the only poll to show Obama up in Indiana, but, of course, to you anything that doesn't show Hillary leading is a "bad poll"
