One of the undeclared Supers had something interesting to say on NPR today re: brokered convention
Sorry, I don't remember what show it was. Anyway, it was an interview with a guy on the DNC's rules committee who is a super. He plans to announce by the start of July at the latest. He said that he's old enough to remember the 1980 contested convention with Carter vs. Kennedy, and how much that hurt the party, so he does not want the nomination to go to the convention.

It occurred to me that he is probably representative of many of the non-elected official, DNC member, Supers in this respect: being on the DNC, they have been longtime party activists and are going to have similar views to him.

Just more confirmation of my position that this is NOT going to go to the convention. We will have a presumptive nominee by June or July at the latest. And, please, let's put a sock in the idea of a brokered convention. THAT, my friends would mean a definite loss in the GE. Bank on it. ;)

1. Everyone Wants This To Be Over
I think the rest of the SDs will announce after the next state that Obama wins.

4. Everyone, that is, except for Hillary and her supporters
They don't give a damned if it rips the party apart. They want Hillary to scratch, claw, and fight her way to the convention - and beyond if need be.

How DARE Obama continue standing in the way of what is rightfully hers?

3. When push comes to shove, Democrats want to win in November.
Only a blind man could miss the wave of support for Obama.

We are the majority we have been waiting for.

5. It was Kennedy who screwed the Dems in 1980
that's not an equal comparison -- as stating the obvious, Carter was a sitting President screwed by the liberal left.

6. Why is it that Hillary is ahead in Super Delegates at present?
And that most people assume the majority of the rest of them will go to Obama? Maybe they are just waiting to see how PA turns out?

7. She's ahead in Supers at the present because a lot of them declared early.
Many of them have prior ties or friendly relationships with the Clintons. Others of them thought that she was the frontrunner. And there's benefit in being an "early" supporter.

I am not sure why people are assuming the rest of them will go to Obama. Perhaps it is the slow but steady trickle that have been going to him in recent weeks. Perhaps it is the fact that there are several factors in his favor -- his lead in pledged delegates, his lead in the popular vote, his grassroots support and funding, his excellent campaign, etc.

Also, one thing that's true is that the remaining supers are canny political folks and long time party activists. They are getting calls, and they are paying attention, and I think the majority of them will make the right decision.

8. The ONLY way the Republicans can beat us
is if they divide us. We outnumber them. We've registered hundreds of thousands of new voters. We've finally got the young engaged in the election. We've brought Independents into our fold. Our numbers so far outmatch theirs that the only way they could win is to cheat, and that won't be believable unless they can foster enough division in our party to say that the Obama voters didn't turn out for Clinton or the Clinton voters didn't turn out for Obama. Together--We succeed. Divided--we get John McCain and another four years of disaster for the American people.

11. It is media spin that divides us
Remember it was a brokered convention, on the fourth ballot, that selected Franklin D. Roosevelt.

If it comes down to a brokered convention, then it will be the convention that will unite us, as it has been done before. Nothing is new, this has happened before. And we will be united.
