Kerry's Michigan Firsts
There is no place that us loyal Kerry supporters in Michigan would rather be on New Years Day morning than at the front door of the Michigan Democratic Party where we were the FIRST people to file applications to vote in the Michigan Democratic Presidential Caucus.

About 15 volunteers braved the cold (and the waking up early!) to show our commitment to winning Michigan for John Kerry.

Michigan Democratic Party Executive Chairman Mark Brewer greeted the crew to accept our ballot requests on behalf of the State Party, and answered questions about the caucus process.

In Michigan, like elsewhere in the country, we’re running a very aggressive campaign — fighting for every vote, not taking anyone’s support for granted.

We were the FIRST to hire staff, the FIRST to open an office, the FIRST to announce major endorsements, and now we were the FIRST to file to actually cast our votes for John Kerry.

Congratulations, Team Michigan! Onward to a victory on February 7th.

Michael Simon
Michigan Deputy State Director
John Kerry for President

1. More Kerry campaign brilliance.
I'm sure LOTS of people noticed this tidbit utterly buried behind Wolverines Rose Bowl coverage.

The 5th would have been a much smarter kick-off.

In the background, I just heard the television news report that a bunch of Dean supporters dropped off about 900 applications for mail/internet ballots in Lansing today.

I just applied for mine on the net--I have to work the day of the caucus. Hope lots of fellow Clark supporters are doing the same..

But 900? The Dean people got some press out of that.

4. Will Kerry even still be in it by Michigan.
That's Feb. 7. I doubt it. Especially if he gets 3rd in NH.

6. Good job
While many people would have stayed home in weather like that, it's good to see people who believe in their candidate enough to brave it.

Good luck to you in Michigan. :dem:

It should be interesting to see what happens in Iowa with Kerry finally getting some decent coverage/numbers...
