Purple Pennsylvania shifts blue - WSJ
A margin note for those fretting about the extended primary season:

Until recently, Sen. John McCain had stacked up about evenly compared to Clinton and Obama here. But presumptive Republican nominee McCain has lost his standing against both Democrats and is now trailing Obama by 8 percentage points and Clinton by 9 points, according to (the 04/17)Rasmussen Reports poll...

Pennsylvania generally is in play," says Black, 54, the president and chief executive of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and Capital Region Economic Development Corporation.

Now, as Democrats Clinton and Obama take the race for their party's nomination down to the wire, the Pennsylvania primary is getting some unaccustomed national attention.

"I am so excited that Pennsylvania is finally counting," says Traynham, a 41-year-old janitor in Philadelphia.

I have a dream (as the Bush years end) ... Blue Texas.

1. Absolutely.... anybody who thinks a Republican can win PA this year is
delusional... not happening. Same with Ohio and MI... look at who owns the ground game in these three states. Democrats.

2. Wait a minute. Are you trying to link this to two Democrats running around the state talking issues?
Is it your contention that having two popular, feisty, and highly publicized campaigns crisscrossing the state is building the case for a Democratic victory in November? Because I have it on good authority that all this argument and talky stuff is a TRAINWRECK for our democracy.

5. McCain's gettiong what - 30% of the publicity
on his 'get (not) to know me tour'? How is that a Republican advantage?

8. He might--might--be getting 30% of the PR. But he is not getting 30% of the attention.
McCain is, so far, bland and forgettable compared to the awesome soap opera that is the Democratic primary. The Republicans will get theirs in the fall when there's a real choice before the voters rather than the saccharine popularity contest the Democrats are flailing over.

Right now what needs to happen is that you have to go back and reread my post so you can see the intentional irony of statements about how bad arguments are for democracy. Arguments are, of course, necessary for democracy. The unpleasantness Clinton and Obama are dragging us through is actually going to help us in November.

3. Pennsylvania is NOT purple - it's VERY BLUE. Media would KNOW that if election process was secured
in those states they call 'purple' as per their lazy conditioning.

7. In one way the PA primary is good for Democrats
Clinton and Obama are on the air, holding rallies, and spreading the Democratic message in PA, while McCain and the GOP are off the air and not responding. That helps the Democrats frame the issue agenda for the fall in PA.

9. I heard my husband speaking in tongues this morning.
Apparently he saw a McCain commercial on TV. McCain must be getting worried about Pennsylvania.
