Clinton supporters wont be able to back Obama in the fall.
I was just thinking... how could Clinton supporters be here on DU before this fall? How could they possibly defend Obama from right wing attacks? They have all embarrassed every single one of the right wing tactics that will be used against Obama in the fall.

The flag pin.

Ayers.

Wright.

Elitistness.

Race baiting.

Latte Liberal.

These are all the main tactics coming at Obama in the fall. Normally such ridiculous non-issues would be eagerly attack from democrats. (None are new... they are the same old type of guilt by association/attacks on Democrats that many of us have always railed against) But this year each and every one of them have been legitimized by Hillary Clinton. By attacking him from the right, she has empowered every single one of those tactics. She has led her supporters into these points of views about the Democratic nominee.

These are indeed Republican tactics. Many of these scandals have been long discussed among Hannity and Rush. This is why we shouldn't be surprised that Hillary supporters on Taylor Marsh's site and certain Hillary forums are always posting how "excited they are that Hannity is doing and Obama/Ayers special on Hannity's America." (which aired two weeks ago..I believe)

I have come to two conclusions because of Hillary's pushing this.

1. (don't bite my head off) I am starting to think it is unlikely that any Dem will win this year. Hillary is on the road of permanently alienating Obama supporters by using these Neocon tactics that most Dems resent and hate. And Obama will have trouble now with his strong suit of independents now that Hillary has sided with the Republican talking points against Obama.

2. I believe Hillary is doing this as part of her Hillary2012 campaign. She has to know like many of us that she has lost the nomination. She knows she wont catch up in pledged delegates and popular vote. She knows the SD's won't overturn the will of the voters and risk alienating Blacks and mobilized youth voters. She knows that these silly arguments about how only big states count... or that only electoral college oriented judging of states should count or that only primaries should count or that only closed voting states should count... that all these arguments are meaningless to the SD's. That all they care about is keeping the voter's(most of which have supported Obama) happy.

She is only in the race now in order to pump life into republican attacks. She knows that by agreeing with and furthering attacks based on Ayers and Wright and how elitist Obama is that she is fueling media coverage. She knows that by agreeing with these attacks she is telling her supporters to believe these republican tactics. She is counting on Obama losing to McCain. She knows that after another 4 years of Bush/McCain policies the next election WILL in fact be a Dem coronation. She will be there waiting and saying "I told you he wasn't electable... lets do it right this time."

and this all depresses me. I don't think it is impossible for Obama to win. But, I do think it is much harder now that he has to deprogram these BS rethug talking points out of Clinton supporters who will be very angry that Obama has "taken what was rightfully Hillary's. :(

3. This whole thing is so pathetic...
I've been called Rushbot by DUers who I used to respect. Called nasty baiting names for pointing out the math and poked at with childish nonsensical insults.

This whole primary shit needs to end soon. It's truly killing us.

6. I haven't given up hope ... but we will see HRC in Repug ads this fall
She knew exactly what she was doing when she said those things ...
She was giving the Repug 527s ammunition, and also ensuring that
she wouldn't have to campaign for Obama in the fall. (Would he
even want to use her if she's become the face of the "Weather
Underground Prosecutors For Truth"?)

8. Gee would Hillary sabotage 2008 for 2012? Ask Gore and Kerry campaigns.
Ask historian Douglas Brinkley:

http://www.depauw.edu/news/index.asp?id=13354

Ask why Bill spent his 3 week book tour in 2004 defending Bush:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/06/19/clinton.iraq/

Ask Carville why he sabotaged Dem voters in Ohio on election night:

Why DOES Hillary validate RW lies against other Dems?

13. The vast majority of Clinton supporters will back Obama when he wins the primary...
...DU is not reflective of most people "out there" who simply aren't on this board 24/7 trying to strangle each other.

How did I (we) embarrass those tactics, in your view?

16. We don't need them
IIRC, only about 40% of Americans participate in elections. We can find more Obama supporters out of the 60% that remain on the sidelines. If they want to have a say in their future, they will come off the fence and join us.

We have nearly seven months to get going, and what happens here on DU is NOT representative of what's happening in the real world.

YES WE CAN!
