Obama's got the nomination, so shut the fuck up, already. Try being other than sore winners. |
|
Clinton looks pathetic of late. Absolutely pathetic. She's been looking bad since Super Tuesday, but she gets worse every day. Grasping at straws and flinging shit. She clearly lost the nomination back on Super Tuesday. Her supporters are subdued because, generally speaking, they know it. She's gotten no significant endorsements because the party glitterati know she lost the race already. I'd bet even she knows it.
In fact, I can't imagine anyone who doesn't really know she's lost it, no matter what they might seem to be saying.
So, while this is the fact, what are Obama's supporters doing?
People, just shut the fuck up for a while. Let her say whatever she wants. IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER WHAT SHE SAYS.
Try, maybe, to be graceful winners. Ya think ya can do that?
Maybe we can salvage a bit, just a tad, maybe an iota, of unity going into the general election.
Sore winners are really losers.

If the bashing is coming from a Dem (like Clinton), IGNORE IT. It doesn't matter to Obama and it diminishes the basher even more than she's already diminished.
Shut up and smile serenely. That'll piss off the bashers even more. They need a response.
You ever hear about throwing stones into a fog? You only know you hit something when it yelps. If you don't hear a yelp, you soon stop throwing stones.

it is downright disgusting; case in point, the previous debate. "Does Rev. Wright love America as much as you do, Sen. Obama?" Meanwhile, we get Sen. Clinton saying this is a reasonable issue to be focusing on as she tries unsuccessfully to call Sen. Obama's integrity, faith and patriotism into question.
Sen. Clinton's campaign is already running on fumes but she is still desperately trying to keep doing the GOP's work for them.
Until Sen. Clinton switches gears and starts working towards helping Sen. Obama fight the GOP I think she deserves whatever criticism comes her way.

How dare that snot nosed little upstart challenge the Goddess of Peace (GOP). He can't even wipe his own ass yet he comes in and ruins it for Hillary. He should have listened to the party elders and waited his turn just like Bill Clinton did back in 1992.

I took a few weeks off of DU. And even still--flip on TV, there's a Clinton backer talking trash about Obama. Open the paper, there's a story on her latest round of attack ads. She's lost the nomination, but she isn't going down easy.

You don't think so?
I think it helps McCain GREATLY (every attack she launches saves the GOP $$$ in attack ads), and hurts our chances in Nov.
Polling seems to bear that out.

I used to dig the Clintons; like during the past 7+ years every time Bushco rolled out their latest new horror to visit on we the people ... like the stars, I couldn't even begin to count the moments I've naustalgically longed for a return to those "good ol' Clinton years" ... but that said,
the good news is it seems many super delegates are seeing the hand-writing on the wall, and Dean is pushing them to "decide now", so it looks like there may well be a speedy conclusion to this nightmare, which is just a tiny fractal of the much larger nightmare that's going to be facing Obama -- and all his supporters -- the day he's sworn in as the our President of the United States.
But I really do know that together, we really can ... like you know .. do it.

Last I checked we had a cartoon of Obama dressed as a woman. Called a wimp today, a pussy yesterday, and a radical angry black with ties to every Black person and every terrorist known to man.
What place is there that her supporters are "subdued"? What planet?

RIGHT
Don't let THEM determine the discourse with distractions and poo-slinging, or responding in kind to scurrilous attacks.
WRONG
There is always someone coming out and shouting, "PEACE BRETHREN" to Obama Supporters... but NEVER to Clinton Supporters.
Telling people to let their guard down is a sure indicator of a telegraphed PUNCH... it's like Charlie Brown and Lucy with the Football. I ain't Charlie Brown.
Also, your confidence may assuage your own fears, but it's an ill-founded faith... if you're not "hoping for the best, but planning for the worst"
I see a lot of distracted people here. Those of us that sense where the Sunday Punch is coming from, get treated like Chicken Little, or the Boy That Cried "Wolf." This, by both the "it's over, have some lemonade" crew; and those that are distracted by non-issues like kittens, playing with a shiny bauble.

I have 2 problems:
The first, that I can't decide which one "sucks least." Every time I take a close, detailed look at either, I am further appalled.
Second, that I'm stubborn, lol. I'm holding out for that brokered convention and a possibly better candidate.

...you can pound your opponent like mad while the fight is on.
Ding! The round starts. You fight. Ding! The round ends, You stop fighting and go to neutral corners.
When you are between rounds or after the fight and you have beaten an opponent badly, if that opponent decides to walk over to your corner and continue to beat you upside the head...much as I hate to say it, you don't let that person just BEAT YOU UPSIDE THE HEAD WILLY-NILLY.
That's why people are continuing to fight this shit out. It ain't pretty—but it IS the truth.

Here, I'm thinking Obama's taunting he's been doing from the platform is 'unhinged'. Annie Oakley? What a . . .
And, he's not going to stop his ridicule. His sleazy pack of handlers won't either. Meanwhile, his supporters can take refuge in their lead, convinced that that lead makes all of the attacks by the Obama camp righteous and above reproach.

|
I have no doubt that some percentage of his or her supporters will keep this war raging just for the sake of raging.
And that, if it goes viral, could lead to a real sorry outcome in November.
Given that he's the leader, it seems to me it is his job to lead. And that might include telling his supporters to back off.
For her part, she just needs to get to it ..... and drop out. As I said in the OP, there's no way she can win. None.
Me? I think they both sorta suck. But I'll support the winner, you betcha. What has become hard for me to envision, is working along side either set of supporters once the nominee is officially selected.
I may just elect to spend my time working for the local party and not any candidate.

Voters don't invest their votes in a horse race. They believe in and expect their issues and concerns to advance with their candidate. It may well be that you are satisfied that your own concerns are invested in your leading candidate, but that's certainly not a universal feeling among Democrats, measured by the inability of Sen. Obama to achieve the nomination by votes cast alone. The little less than half of the voters between these candidates who are encouraging Sen. Clinton's campaign to continue certainly do not yet believe that their concerns are well-represented by your choice in this election, and, their support deserves to be characterized as something more than a petty desire to see something rage on.

84. The pearl of your post: " ....... you are satisfied that your own concerns are invested ....... " |
|
"...... in your leading candidate, ..... "
See, here's the thing ...... I don't like either one of them. I never have and likely never will. One is too inexperienced and not nearly liberal enough for me (Obama ..... his supporters will compare him to JFK to argue that) and one is too much of the same old same old and not nearly liberal enough for me (Clinton .... I loved them the first go-round ...... Clinton R2 ..... not so much).
So that kinda renders moot the rest of your post.
See what happens when you assume facts not in evidence?

This is a board where we come to get news, links, and a heads up on what the other candidate's campaign is doing. We mobilize here, like after the ABC fiasco, to make sure our voices are heard. Most of us volunteer and contribute as much as we can to the Obama campaign. THAT is what we're doing.

140. You just don't get it. This isn't just about the nomination anymore. This is about betrayal. |
|
Yes, Obama has the nomination. End of story there.
However, as far as Hillary Clinton goes...
Clinton is out there bashing Democratic ideals, Democrats and liberals who don't support her, groups of Democrats as a whole (young voters, AA voters, "latte-drinking" liberals, etc.), the DNC and any other Democratic individuals and politicians who aren't in her corner. She's praising John McCain and is pissing off a lot of us on general principle.
This is NOT about Obama. This is about Joe Lieberman. Hillary Clinton is doing a Joe Lieberman and real Democrats are NOT going to just shut up and give her a pass.
If you don't agree and you don't like reading about our genuine disgust with Hillary Clinton, then I suggest you do what you are advising us to do.

141. There ya go, speaking in first person plural while looking for your posse |
|
And what do you think **I** feel about Clinton?
I bet **anything** you won't answer that question.

142. Posse.... OOooOoOOoo.... What did you take a wrong turn or something? This isn't My Space. |
|
I'm not going to play guessing games with you about how you "feel" about Clinton. I'm really not interested in asking your opinion. Not asking. Don't care.
You just made a post on a public board telling people to STFU. So why should anyone go out of their way to ask how you feel? I certainly won't.
"Obama's got the nomination, so shut the fuck up, already." - you (scroll up in case you forgot)

147. I wrote it. I didn't forget |

But it wasn't 'people' to whom it was addressed. It was just a subset of 'people' as defined in the OP.
Just to be clear.
In case your posse rode off with out you.
And just for that, I'm not gunna tell you how I feel.
So there.

146. You're probably right. |

Why do I say that?
Cuz I pretty much agree with you on that point.

150. I saw this show one time... on Discovery channel |
|
This guy cut off a rattlesnakes head and was carrying it around. Minutes later, after he thought it was dead, the head bit him in the hand. He lost a good chunk of his hand and arm because of the snakebite. And if he hadnt gotten to the hospital when he did, it could have killed him.
Call be crazy but I see a parallel.

and my posts get 5 and 6 here in GD: P. Shows Hillary supporters have more sense than to be here in GD: P... except for me... I have a problem, but I'm getting better. I should do the 12 step program in the Lounge, except I've got the Lounge blocked just like GD: P.
