This is really nothing new.
The DLC has always been authoritarian.
They want a Top Down party organization. That is one reason why the Clintons and the DLC HATE Howard Dean's 50-State Grassroots Democratic Party organization.

The DLC would rather be in charge of a Minority Party...as long as THEY are In Charge.
That is why Hillary has endorsed McCain over Obama.

If Obama gets elected, that will be one BIG nail in their coffin.
Obama owes more to the grassroots, and will be more willing to listen.

If Hillary is successful at torpedoing Obama and getting McCain elected.....the DLC will retain some of their power. But the DLC has taken some big hits the last couple of years, and it appears that the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party is gaining power.

One good sign:
The DLC used to publish its membership on their website.
A couple of years ago, they removed the membership search function.
They began to realize that membership in the DLC is not a good thing for the public to know about. :)

have been sliding their way. It's very discouraging seeing newly elected Dems vote with Republicans time after time. Maybe we'll see some more participation at the state level. The good thing about Senator Obama's campaign is the lessons that are being learned about organization.
