And after 8 years of Bush--she might be right. Though I wouldn't be a part of it.

But Barack will win the nomination--so we need not face that choice.

5. Ahem. Ermm, clears throat, it's the grassroots as in supporting the Democratic party for decades
that are behind her.

It's the political grassroots that have kept the Democratic party viable, who have gone door to door, made the calls, attended every meeting, supported their local city council, house district or state senator that support her.

Now the people who regret voting for Bush and switched parties, well they're more like grass seedlings.

I joined them in 1998. And contributed a lot. And discontinued my financial support when they decided that they wanted to influence the primary, rather than support whoever the Democratic nominee was.

I got an email from them asking that I not remove myself from the email list.

I wasn't the only long time Democrat who did so. But, what does it matter anyway? :toast:

8. The candidate without the base is Obama.
Women, boomers, older Americans, working class/blue collar (the people Obama supporters like to call uneducated), gays and gay friends, and Latinos.

Obama has AAs and elitist - as in latte drinkers and the white guys who apparently hate their parents and grandparents (all the old people). They also hate women but they are not really Democrats but libertarians, greens, Naderites, independents, unaffiliated, so called progressives (whatever that means) and generally act like bullies and like to call people names like conservatives, racists, stupid, etc That should work out well for the Dem Party going forward.

21. Silly Post!
"The candidate without the base is Obama. "

How can someone be in the lead without a base?

It is really sad to see Democrats become so blinded. This could very well be the end of the Democratic Party.
Will progressives continue to support the Democratic Party if they lose this GE. The gross amount of infighting within the
Democratic Party will become a major issue in the near future and could easily produce a legitimate third party.

54. When did a candidate's supporters ever behave like this?
I think Obama cringes when (if) he ever sees how some of his supporters behave. I have never seen a campaign in which the supporters of a candidate have behaved so diametrically opposed to what their candidate represents. He is about inclusion. He rises above the fray. He doesn't take the bait. He feels no need to make personal attacks.

There's only so many times he can screw up a debate that badly and get away with it by blaming the questions. Eventually people will see through him.

If Obama supporters are lucky, it will be before the GE. That way they can blame Clinton for the loss, rather than watching him betray them in the White House and having to admit they are wrong.
