April 18, 2008 5:07 PM

At Toronto's Empire Club of Canada this week, two former US ambassadors to Canada -- one Democrat and one Republican -- debated how concerned Canadians should be that the Democratic candidates are serious about re-negotiating NAFTA.

It was the Democrat, James Blanchard, who told Canadians not to worry, according to Canadian press accounts.

Blanchard, former Governor of Michigan, is a Michigan state co-chair of Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign, one of her major "HillRaiser" fundraisers, and served as US Ambassador to Canada during the administration of former President Bill Clinton.

3. since most Canadians think they were royally screwed by NAFTA,
why would the Dems ensure them that NAFTA won't be renegotiated? Seems they'd do better with the Canadian public if they'd PROMISE renegotiation.

NAFTA. Their people didn't.

Just like us the Canadians, Brits, French, etc. are all victims of globalization. The immigrants and cheap off-shore manufacturing are destroying their way of life and democracy too.

In the last ten plus years NAFTA has changed all our lives and ruined our democracy. We go to fight their wars.

Before NAFTA Canada had a trade deficit with us. After NAFTA they had a surplus and allowed to buy out our railroads, Niagara Falls Power plant, timber, gold, dump their waste and garbage here, etc. We lost more than they did with NAFTA and they (the leaders) know it.

Mexico has a surplus now with us too. They send their poor and over populated here for jobs and to send home money. They are allowed to "invade" us to break unions and take away our borders claiming the SW belongs to them. Little the immigrants know they are ruining us to be yet like them. We are not bringing them up but us down to their poor.

NAFTA is good for international corporations and the few world elite. Everyone else is a slave. It also negates their laws, rights, and borders forming huge Unions (European, Asian, Americas, African, etc.) not voted on or controlled by the people. Elections can't be trusted after NAFTA any where in the world...the elite fix them with the help of the media and the wealthy. Citizens join the secret organizations to be part of it.

It is as they say Fascist. Can't make a pig anything but a pig.
