I hope Stephanopolous doesn't think we're gonna forget this shit ... |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 12:49 PM by Alhena
if Gallup and Rasmussen are any indication, Stephanapolous' mission to smear Barack Obama had some impact, but Obama is still going to be the nominee. The Democratic party got a small - just the smallest - taste of the power of Obama's base to raise havoc over the cynical, lowest common denominator politics that we saw in the debate. If the party should somehow try to let those politics prevail over the will of the pledged delegates- then we'll see you in Denver guys. But I'm confident that they can read the writing on the well as well as I can.
And as for George Stephanopalous- no doubt he will try to slink away in the night like the coward he is, thinking his work is done. "Does Reverand Wright love America as much as you do?" will no doubt go down in history as one of the most pathetic, loaded, and despicable pieces of soundbite-bait in debate history. I am shocked that someone who professes to be of a progressive background could come up with a question like that.
Well, in the immortal words of Marcellus Wallace, we ain't through with you by a damn sight, Georgie. I've permanently removed This Week from my list of TIVO subscriptions, and I am confident the netroots will never forget what this smarmy, self-satisfied worm tried to pull.

1. The bad questions were one thing, but when I heard the audio of him taking them from Hannity |

that's when the line was officially crossed, IMO.
How can anyone who used to work as a professional democrat take anything so overtly from a republican talking head? Totally unconscionable.

8. I'm surprised that Obama didn't subtly allude to that |

He would have to be pretty sneaky to avoid seeming like he's blaming the refs, but it's pretty obvious that there is a conflict of interest here.

Did anyone really expect two such worthless bastards to moderate a legitimate debate?
ABC News hasn't had a shred of integrity since Peter Jennings died. And I even have my doubts about him, given his willing participation in their 40th anniversary JFK coverup special.

5. I do not think we need to take them too seriously they are polling less than 2000 people |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 12:49 PM by Zachstar
And don't give me margin of error crap. You poll less than 10k people in this country and you have luck and time issues affecting the results more than actual views.
I think both polls just hit a nice pocket of Clinton support.
So lets have hope that they did not have that kind of impact. I truly hope that America is not taking that debate seriously.

That goes for Charles Gibson too. I'll just add these two to what I've already been doing about AC and BO'R and, of course, my tv has not been on Fucks' News in years.

15. Oh yeah, he "slams" her every chance he gets: |
|
(from Tuesday's Debate)
OBAMA: Well, look, I think that Senator Clinton has a strong record to run on. She wouldn't be here if she didn't. And, you know, I haven't commented on the issue of Bosnia. You know, I... STEPHANOPOULOS: Your campaign has. OBAMA: Of course. But the -- because we're asked about it. But, look, the fact of the matter is, is that both of us are working as hard as we can to make sure that we're delivering a message to the American people about what we would do as president. Sometimes that message is going to be imperfectly delivered because we are recorded every minute of every day. And I think Senator Clinton deserves the right to make some errors once in a while. Obviously, I make some as well. I think what's important is to make sure that we don't get so obsessed with gaffes that we lose sight of the fact that this is a defining moment in our history. We are going to be tackling some of the biggest issues that any president has dealt with in the last 40 years. Our economy is teetering not just on the edge of recession but potentially worse. Our foreign policy is in a shambles. We are involved in two wars. People's incomes have not gone up, and their costs have. And we're seeing greater income inequality now than any time since the 1920s. In those circumstances, for us to be obsessed with this -- these kinds of errors I think is a mistake. And that's not what our campaign has been about.
OUCH!! what a slam that was....

18. I'm not complaining because they ambushed Obama... |
|
I'm complaining because the so-called debate was a sham. Neither of our candidates deserved to be in such a BS debate. It didn't serve either of them well, which -- I believe -- was the purpose of that crap in the first place. All the time wasted on gossip left almost no time for Hillary or Barack to speak up for their policies.
I think Hillary supporters should be pissed off at the tabloid journalism debate, too. I think they should have both walked off the stage. They were both treated badly.

16. This issue isn't whether we will forget (we won't). |
|
But what will ABC do with him. Will they get enough pressure to sideline him? Unfortunately, no. My guess is that George and Charlie may get a "don't do that again" email. That's about it.
Sadly, the majority of Americans didn't watch the debate and doesn't know anything about this issue.

You guys are too much. Stuffitupyurass doesn't need you or the twelve other people on DU who watch him. He won't be harmed by you tuning out.
Rather, he will be harmed when you tune IN, note and publicize the stupid things he does, and embarrass him to the point where he is fired or resigns in shame.
Haven't you people learned ANYTHING about getting pompous asses fired? Nah, Limbaugh still has a job.

23. I bet being despised by the Democratic netroots matters to him ... |
|
this is a guy who rose to prominence as a supposed eager young progressive much like the netroots today.
But he tasted the power and money of the Big Media and lost his way big time.
But I'm sure there's still a part of him that is bothered to see himself hated by the group of people that once embraced him.
