new Wisconsin poll: Bush up 46-42 Nader has 5%

The latest Badger Poll conducted by the liberal Capital Times newspaper of Madison and Independent Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel gives Bush a modest four-point lead of 46-42 in this key swing state with Ralph Nader attracting 5%. This is an improvement though for Kerry who was behind by seven points in March according to this same poll.

8. I flipped past Faux the other day

and their polling showed Bush ahead by a good margin in every battleground state. We all know that's not the case, so I have to agree with you that some polls are completely made up to make Bush look stronger.

Maybe we need a polling reform bill since fake poll results can sway opinion.

2. This is actually a lot better than it appears because the Badger Poll

always is considerably more pro-Bush than any other in the state. I'm not sure why. Remember, they once had Bush up by 12 when no other poll even had him leading. I know because I check out http://www.dcpoliticalreport.com regularly. So if Bush is ahead by 4 in this poll, Kerry is probably actually leading by a small margin.

becuz isn't sponsored by conservative newspapers--Cap Times is one of the most liberal in the state, and the University of Wisconsin is fairly liberal--but you are right this poll does seem to give Bush a slightly higher advantage than other polls.

that is damned rude. For one thing, if you're going to be talking like that, get it straight who you're talking about. We have two Democratic Senators, one of whom, Russ Feingold, is the ONLY SENATOR OUT OF ONE HUNDRED who voted against the Patriot Act.

We have Tammy Baldwin, who is a kick-ass U.S. Representative.

We have a Democratic Governor who ran on the most boring platform of all - fiscal responsibility - and he has been busting his butt to fight the Republicans in order to clean up the financial mess they've made of things. I have really grown to admire Doyle and his courage in standing up for what he knows is right.

And many of us have worked relentlessly to get bush out of office. I am proud of our state, and I'm sick of people slamming us, just because we're a swing state. WE DID VOTE FOR GORE IN 2000, AFTER ALL!!!

So FIX your damned attitude and do something to help, rather than just sit on your ass and criticize other people.

If Kerry loses Wisconsin he's toast in the midwest. I really doubt this poll is representative, since the Wisco economy sucks, the crazy christian facotr is missing, and the populated areas all go blue.

My EV map begins with WI as a lock. Us losing there would be equivalent to Bush losing TN -- stick a fork in him.

WI hasn't been a Dem stronghold for 20 years. They had a Repuke gov for 12,and they still have plenty of wingnut members of congress and local officials, and a ton of NRA members.

Gore only won it by 6k, and if he had won FL, he wouldn't have needed it.

Kerry can still win without Wisconsin, though it does make it harder.

IA and WI are both extremely close states (both went for Gore by less than 2%)...

That's why Kerry needs to peel off another state like OH (which has a lot more EVs), AR, or some other state. Granted, OR and NM are also very close...

In 2000 he only got 3.5% in Wisconsin, and I doubt he will be picking up a substantial amount of new voters in this election.

I find the low Nader number very interesting.
