Pat Buchanan was mostly wrong re: post-debate reaction |
|
I just re-watched the post-debate discussion with Keith, Rachel, and Pat.
First Pat said that the big four issues that they hit Obama on: Wright, Ayers, flag pins, and bitter-gate would all be brought up again and on the front pages of the papers again for days. Not really, as far as I've seen.
Then he said that Hillary's statements on the Middle East would be front-and-center. Nope.
Instead, the news channels and blogosphere have been all about ABC. My local paper has had headlines about the high price of gas, the Pope, how Harley is cutting 730 jobs in Milwaukee, more Pope, and how Canada is banning bisphenol A in bottles.
Nobody ever calls these pundits into account.
One useful thing that he did point out: the four issues that they brought up, the four RW talking points that are likely going to be used in the general, have one common theme: they are all about Obama being too far to the left. He's going to be painted as a big lefty liberal type who's friends with radical people, won't wear a flag pin, and is too elite to understand regular people. So get ready for that.
Nothing scares them more than a liberal. "I like him, but he's so liberal!" is already being heard in my extended family. So many people don't even realize how liberal they themselves really are.

their Funk & Wagnall and look up the definition of liberal. Open minded is the definition.

4. Buchanon can't handle the idea of a "black" president |
|
this seems to upset and trouble him more than anything.
But as long as we can have people like Rachel Maddow to inject sanity into the conversation, then we can get out of this hole.
Its a new thing, the media allowing any dissenting views!

5. That's right about Pat Puke-annon |
|
the fucking guy shouldn't even BE on the television. If a child sees him I think it ought to be considered child abuse.
I think he's the most repulsive talking head on TV that ain't O'reilly or that other idiot over on 'the station that will not be named'

And again and again and again...
