County convention in WA
Just came from the Cowlitz County convention in WA. Oh, it's still going on, but I couldn't take any more. THREE-AND-A-HALF HOURS AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T DONE A THING! The credentialing commitee hasn't even finished counting the delegates in attendance! It could have been done in five minutes!

Every so often, some candidate would arrive and rouse the crowd momentarily with a short speech, but for the most part it was agony. It finally occured to me that my vote wasn't going to change anyting anyway. The proportion of Hillary to Obama supporters to the district convention is already determined. All we were there to do was select the delegates. So I baled.

The only moment that generated any enthusiasm as when someone said: "Why aren't we using the primary system instead of this nonsense?" Many cheers for that.

Good God. Can they wonder why people don't get more involved in politics? They can't even run an efficent meeting, and think nothing of wasting people's whole day for no reason. Incredible. I can't get over how patient and polite the crowd was, considering. But I bet I'm not the only one who left.
