Obama is on the run in PA... His poll numbers are dropping like rocks nation-wide!
As the fallout from this week's ABC Debate continues to lay siege to an already floundering Obama campaign, it's becoming more and more obvious that Pennsylvania (and the nomination) is ripe for the plucking by Hillary!

Today, Gallup's new numbers are out and now show Hillary Clinton sporting a significant and widening lead over Barry Obama:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/106606/Gallup-Daily-Clinton-46-Obama-45.aspx

This is obviously indicative of a nation-wide trend that shows the electorate are, en mass, opening their eyes and seeing this Obama guy for what he truly is: a brilliant liar, a cheater, and a whiner.

If this keeps up, I wouldn't be surprised if every remaining superdelegate pledges to Hillary and those who have so-far been bamboozled by Obama's haze of so-called "hope" and "change" will immediately change their allegiance as well.

The tide is turning, people! Keep pumping out the message and expose that Obama!

4. "Significant lead"??? It's ONE point (and within the MOE)
That aside, it's a national poll of Democrats. Most Dems nationally have already voted. The only ones that matter to this contest are those who vote in the remaining 10 primaries.

How does this poll mean anything?

12. shh! those people are really there to spy on the campaign for Hillary...
yeah, that's the ticket.

I ask people at Disney constantly when anything comes up about insurance, gas, war, election - who they are for - and she is RARELY mentioned. It's usually white women over 40 who say they are for her, but even some of that group say they are for Barack. He's way ahead at least at Disney among the hundred or so I've asked in the past month. I love finding out what people think, then asking who they're for - the McCain backers are hilarious - they go right to the terrorist threat and that they don't trust that Obama is really who he 'says he is'... which means they don't trust a black man. The dude's a fricking senator for God's sake!

As I recall they said she should drop out because obama is so far ahead in states, votes, and delegates that Hillary has only about a 5% chance of catching up.

Ha,ha,ha,ha, Oh, the little, mature Obamatrons will just have a major fit if the SDs pick Hillary! Well, they can now vote for their next best choice, Ralphie! Or, maybe write in Dean's name. If this should happen, it will be the most traumatic experience of their 20+ years. It will be worse then when Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let them have the car.

119. Chuck Todd, the math pundit said something interesting today.
He was on Tim Russert's show.

He said that even if Hillary wins PA by 60% to Obama's 40%---she will still net only NINE pledged delegates! That's right, NINE.

How's she going to turn that into a nomination? Answer: she's not.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5575980&mesg_id=5575980

If it goes 60-40 she will gain 11 from the PLEOs and At-large delegates alone. That is pure math and does not need guesswork. (but the 60-40 is guesswork mind you)

And that will probably mean that a few of the districts will flip a delegate, compared to the predictions in my thread linked above.

60-40 will probably mean a 14-18, likely 16, delegate gain for Hillary. Not that such a number is significant given how many of the remaining delegates this contest will burn through.

But it wont be 60-40. Atm it seems like a 53-47 or 52-48 is more likely. And that will put her in a 6-8 delegate range. _Possibly_ 10. If Obama keeps it below a 5 point difference the delegate gain for Hillary could end up at only 4.

It is not the delegate count she is counting on anyways. She is hoping to reach a point where Obama will seem out of breath, unelectable to the point they will look to a more standardized candidate. But it won't happen.

Your post reflects EXACTLY why Clinton is going to lose. Glad you really liked that debate.

63. How can an expected win for months change everything?
Seriously PA is a Clinton firewall. She lost a gigantic lead in the polls so far.

Now if you are meaning it will change her funding then yes. It will bring BADLY needed new donors into the Clinton campaign. Problem is they will donate mostly in small increments and not the money Blast Clinton needs to tackle may.

And without time for these new donors to max out... You get my point.

Now if she gets a double digit lead it is pretty much a given that she will continue. Yet remember that May is Obama month. So she needs to have a much better plan if she wants to start thinking about catching up to Obama.

Put the boot on her throat, Obama

We can point fingers at each other all day long over who says what and how they say it. I've yet to hear someone exhort Hillary to put her boot on Obama's neck, or use any form of physical violence, metaphorical or literal, against him.

BTW, I've read plenty of "Go Obama, kick her ass," statements, as well. This from the party of Kumbaya liberals, supposedly.

42. "Kumbaya Liberals"? So I take it you don't consider yourself a "Liberal"?
Oh, and I agree the comments you refer to aren't really productive either....but there is something different in the way the OP on this thread worded things that really just struck me as "odd" for someone that considers themselves a Democrat.

Like I said, something like "Put the boot on her throat" isn't really productive, but it is something you might expect to see from an over exuberant supporter. This here was something else, just can't put my finger on it.

Oh well, not important I guess....looking forward to Tuesday and getting it behind us. Hopefully the voting in PA will be fair and without incident or problem.

115. not sure of the origin ...
I don't think it started on DU but it was mentioned here.
It was on the news too. Hillary was said to be kneecapping Obama, and she was being called "the Tonya Harding" of politics.
It was further said that the only way she could win the nomination was to "break his back."

It was being reported here. Nothing to alert on.

Take it with a grain of salt. "Hillary was said to be" and "it was further said," with no attributes to an individual making those statements, are in the same class of journalism as "some people say."

Clinton planned five events across the state as both campaigns prepared for the sprint to Tuesday. Nick Clemons, her Pennsylvania director, said the campaign would deploy 5,000 volunteers to place phone calls and knock on doors. "This is not going to be a blowout race," he said. "We're looking for a win, and we think it's going to be a close race."

78. Senator Clinton will NEVER be President
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 09:04 PM by Tinman
And no amount of sour grapes, blame-laying, whining, and foot-stomping will ever change that fact. Senator Clinton's supporters grow more desperate by the day, as it becomes apparent she is nearly mathematically eliminated from getting the Democratic nomination. The only turning tide is liberal Democrats coming out in the primaries to take back their party from center-right, triangulating, phony, warmongerers like Senator Clinton. The Democratic wing of the Democratic party has spoken, and Barack Obama WILL win his party's nomination in good time. I suggest you get used to it, and support Senator Obama at the polls in November.

Edit: I didn't mean ALL of Senator Clinton's supporters are to blame, only the ones who post misleading flame bait.

Thom Hartmann's show yesterday. He was very wise in saying that at this point, if Hillary secures the nomination through the SD's, it will split the party beyond recognition. He also thinks that she will take a good deal of the blame if Obama wins the nomination, but loses to McCain. I agree with him. Hillary will probably go the way of Joe Liebermann when all is said and done.

111. She can't win... It's been over for weeks
I challenge any of you Hillary-nuts to make the math work for her. Go to the Slate site and play with their "Delegate Calculator". Play with the upcoming primary results you think are reasonable in the remaining states. Then look at the totals when all is said and done, she still comes up way short. Even if you add in Florida (which she won) and Michigan (where he is polling ahead). You will see that:

She will never overcome the popular vote
She cannot catch pledged delegates
And there aren't enough states to catch Obama's state total

If you think that the Democratic Party at that point is going to overturn the first African American candidate after he has won all three of those categories by way of the super-delegates, you didn't live through the riots of the 60's. It is over now. No matter what happens to a few percentage points one way or the other on Tuesday. in Pennsylvania.

Besides, didn't Texas teach you Hillary-ites anything? The way the delegates are distributed in Pennsylvania, Obama will at worst net only 6 delegates less than Hillary in this state even if she wins by double digits. Once Obama wins North Carolina, she is done.

It is time to rally together around our new nominee for president. It was a good fight, both are strong leaders for our party, but only one can win. And Obama already has.

145. Except for the fact that HRC took a dip in the polls...

139. It's clear, ReverendDouche, that you and the normal world have different concepts of words.

"Today, Gallup's new numbers are out and now show Hillary Clinton sporting a significant and widening lead over Barry Obama:"

And here's the picture of that chasm:

Holy shit! You could drive a truck into that gap ... if you're a Who or if you're into nanotechnology or a free-living microorganism or a subatomic particle or ... you get the idea.

142. I wouldn't say he's a liar, cheater or whiner. More of an empty suit. After seeing the latest
debate, it's clear that without a teleprompter, he's not the brilliant speaker people think he is.

147. One day of polls inside the MOE and you think it's a revelation. Btw, Obama's ahead again Sunday.

Please. Look what happened from March 15 and on. Obama tanked and was down by 9% in the Gallup. Then, he immediately alleviated that and led comfortably for weeks.

PA is actually polling closer in the last few days than it has in the last couple of weeks. It used to be a 6% HRC spread in the RCP average. Recently, it opened up to almost 9%. Now, in the last few days, the polls have tightened, and the RCP average has it under 6% again. So much for your baseless theory.
