while watching the ABC so called debate |
|
I just have a few questions .
I realize they were insane questions but I have a problem here.
Obama knows the smear will come from McCain yet Obama feels it is not relevant to discuss his back ground when it comes to ties to the past .
There is no way to get past this and no one gets a free ride or clean slate.
I can find very little about Obama on the internet other than general info from wikipedia that jumps around a lot or his site but not much at all as a person or his life .
I don't support any of the three candidates but McCains and Hillary's baggage is out there .

Did you even read what I asked? Or is it you normal mode of conduct just to toss off stupid, empty remarks?
If you represent an voter than don't vote.

Dreams From My Father is a great place to start for information. Unlike most biographies, he bares his soul for better or worse. Best of all, you get a real feeling of how the environment he was in shaped him.
Buy and read the book. You won't be disappointed.

22. I really don't hold much faith in self written bios |
|
it was released in 1995 . I am not about to buy the book.
I would rather know how he would be based on experience in the US senate and his recent back ground not his personal self portrait.
A year in the US senate is not much and this second year is not even over yet .
I prefer to know things such as how Lieberman took him under his wing and why. His voting against the attack on Iraq when he was not really in a position of pressure does not cut it for me.
I have seen enough mistakes in my life and heard enough great things about politicians that all later were found out to be enhanced and false info.
The reason I don't support any of the three candidates left standing is mainly because they were picked through the corrupt media.
Every time I ask anything about Obama most often I get blasted by offensive remarks which does not say much for Obama supporters either.
If they represent him then it is a lost cause.
One thing people seem to pass up is the power of the military industrial complex and the corporations and this is why any candidate that does not go head to head with these powers or has no experience with military operations fails.
We were warned decades ago and as you see we are exactly where we were told we would be today. It is not a surprise.
The day I see the people take charge and not the government who they do work for is the day I will buy the Obama push.
Any candidate who even talks about time frames about getting out of Iraq is talking out their ass. We heard this with the 110th congress too.
What we have to deal with is much larger than a candidate. We need one no doubt.
Can anyone here count the promises made through the years by presidential hopefuls that actually came true?
I thing we had much better choices and holding the nose is not an option this time around.

|
They even go to the extent of protesting ABC as if that will do a damn thing.
If Obama does not like to deal with personal issues when asked then why did he not just say so and get it over with rather than go on TV shows after and complain about it?
This sort of media crap is not going to end and he has to know this.

There's always...
Google The Congressional Record The New York Times
The Illinois State Legislature Archives
All the major Illinois newspapers from that era.
You sound like you want definitive, verified, expert opinion and fact...as though you are a scholar....
Act like a scholar and go dig it up.
Or not.

They will smear whoever we put out there. The most important thing is that our nominee must be able to EXCITE voters and volunteers!

16. They don't really need anything to do a smear job... |
|
They toss out baseless accusations and the media attack dogs yammer them endlessly and force the candidate into defending bullshit. The efficacy of the accusation is irrelevant, what matters to them is planting seeds of doubt.

20. Most important thing is that Dems LEARN ENOUGH about their nominee to BE EXCITED |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 06:40 PM by blm
and if more people knew Kerry's actual record of service - especially that he uncovered IranContra, BCCI and CIA drugrunning operations of BushInc, uncovering more government corruption than ANY OTHER LAWMAKER in modern history, they WOULD have treated him like the government hero he is.
But, instead, Bill timed his MASSIVE book tour at the very time the Dem nominee should have been getting known by the Dem party voters and activists and all us Dems were back to defending everything Clinton for too many crucial weeks - we knew more about the blue dress and the chronology of the impeachment than we knew about the current Dem nominee's HEROIC RECORD of service.
2008 is NOTHING like 2004. NOTHING. Bush is at its weakest now - Kerry had to take them on their most powerful and with the last Dem president and most wellknown Dems supporting and publicly defending Bush on his decisions on Iraq - the very decisions Kerry was attacking at the time.
When in the history of campaigning did the last Dem president spend weeks repeatedly defending the GOP president against the criticisms of the current Dem nominee?

4. ok chicken little, here's the scoop |
|
Obama is not attacking Clinton in the same way the GOP will
because he has honor
mix and match... compare and contrast
SMEARS are ill-founded, sleazy, lurid, guilt by association... incendiary, scandal mongering... etc etc etc
they don't need REAL veracity... SO... no matter WHO is the candidate... the machine will do what it's designed to do
there is no difference on this matter
it's a non-issue and pro-Clinton fear mongering
you want to repeat Clinton Camp meme's, fine... but you're wasting your time.

So it will be nothing but one baseless accusation after another, and the pundit media will endlessly repeat them and try to put the candidate on defensive.

7. This was called a debate. |
|
How can you call the questions they asked Obama during the initial 40+ minutes, debate questions? Who was to take the pro side and who was anti? If the questions had been about the economy, health care, Iraq, etc., then they could have had an honest debate.
It was plain and simply a witch hunt and poking at Obama to see if he'd bleed.
Obama took the high road and left them looking like the chumps they are.
Shame on them and shame on Hillary.

I asked a simple question that refers to how every single campaign has been run when all this smear tactic crap began years ago.
Hillary was asked some pretty lame questions as well, it was not all about Obama.

giving credence to right wing smear tactics by journalists on the public airways is objectionable.
The problem is, the media is going to portray either democrat as a loser and McCain as a saint. Hillary's people do a disservice to the party by not joining us in pushing back now. Instead they are saying Obama is a sore loser and can't stand the heat.
The question "Does pastor Wright lover America as much as you do" was disgraceful. How do you answer a question like that?
We are letting the right wing work through the media noise machine to marginalize all of us who are left of center.

15. The right wing owns the media |
|
There is no way around this now.
I see so many sources used to divide the dem party from radio to print and I rarely watch TV at all.
It does not help either that there is this Obama push and Hillary bashing that never ends. I am not surprised to hear Obama supporters will not vote for Hillary or vice versa.
Before this took off all I heard was all the dem candidates would be a good choice, now since it's down to the two the axe came right down the middle.
This is what will very possibly bring the seat to McCain and I fear it's far to late to fix the divide now.
I get turned off by Obama simply because the people who support him walk around acting like he is perfection when perfection does not exist and Obama seems fine with this other than when asked he has said he has made errors.
I don't like what I see in any of the three left standing candidates and for various reasons , each are different.
I voted for Kerry because he was the one left standing but now I really don't feel he would have made a good president, far better than bush no doubt at all there, but still not the one who we needed.
As i have said before, bush has lowered the bar so damn low the people can be sold any hopeful, and this is a problem.

8. The "dirt" coming out about Obama barely fills a file cabinet |
|
Clintons old dirt (pre 2000) fills the whole damn conference room.
And the newer, post 2000 stuff is just beginning to surface. The biggest myth in this primary is that all of Hillary's baggage has been rummaged through.

|
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 05:22 PM by truedelphi
I had to go off on errands midway through it - but it was very interesting. They didn't think there was too little to bother with.
One point the special made was that he could have gone the way of the big time law firm, with the top notch salary, but he choose working in the community over that.
CNN will also do specials on Senators Clinton and McCain.
