Obama says he's all about bringing everyone together, he sees a brighter day. He says

it's time to get past the "silly season" and the politics of "gotcha". He promised a politics of HOPE, a new

kind of politics, a kind of politics that lifts people up, not tear them down. As a member of Wright's church

he must have heard about forgiveness. We are forgiven, so we must be forgiving. When someone has apologized and

asked for forgiveness, that is what you do. The man who says that it is time to take the politics out of the gutter,

to stop with the poltics of division is doing this as of today 4/19/08----

Obama Campaign Revives Attack Over Clinton's 'Bosnia' Account
April 19, 2008 5:13 PM
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/04/obama-campaign.html

ABC News' Sunlen Miller and Kate Snow report: Sen. Barack Obama's campaign has reinvigorated its attack against Sen. Hillary Clinton, today rolling out three Bosnian war veterans to make the case that Clinton was dishonorable when she made inaccurate comments about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia.

Clinton has admitted that her campaign trail claim that she dodged sniper fire in 1996 while landing in Tuzla airport in Bosnia was a misstatement.

At Wednesday’s ABC News debate, she said, “I'm embarrassed by it. I have apologized for it. I've said it was a mistake. And it is, I hope, something that you can look over.”....

...Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson shot back (so to speak) on a conference call with reporters.

“Boy when the Obama campaign decides to go negative, they really go negative!” Wolfson said.

Wolfson noted that at Wednesday night's debate, Obama had said his campaign only talked about Clinton's misstatements on the Tuzla incident when officials were asked by reporters.

"Today, on a Saturday before the election, they have a conference call?" Wolfson asked rhetorically. “This is part of the attack, attack, attack on this last weekend here."

The roll out of the veterans’ attack on Clinton came on the day of Obama’s train tour of Pennsylvania.

And when she gets caught at it, the notion is, 'Well, you know what, that's just politics. That's how it works in Washington. You can say one thing here and say another thing there.'"

Obama said that change can only come if “we deliver independence from the petty, trivial nonsense.”

Obama heal thyself.

When can we move on and get to the real issues that are affecting ordinary Americans?

Isn't it good that she is showing how strong she is? You should be happy he's doing it.

11. She admitted in the Philly "debate" that she LIED.
Not "misremembered."

Not "misspoke."

Not "suffered from sleep deprivation."

She admitted knowingly saying things that were patently false. She was desperately padding her resume in the face of having nothing else to fucking say, and she finally outed HERSELF.

Barack Obama shouldn't be the only one talking about this. The entire MSM should take it up.

And you should be ashamed...of her...and of yourself, for defending her LIES.

This is his lame attempt--- "Obviously, if I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that,"

Where do you see me defending what she said?

I've always said she has a flair for the dramatic.

21. Funny how this is conveniently invoked to protect Hillary from her own LIES
As HRC supporters are so quick to point out, this IS a campaign and it gets tough.

If Hillary wants to try to pad her "experience" and "readiness" resume with a story she made up out of thin air as an argument to select her, then she's fair game. That lie came out of her mouth in a dishonest attempt to gain votes.

Obama didn't lie when he made his 'bitter' remarks, and many people agreed with his statement, but it was used against him to gin up faux outrage. Such is the difference between being called out on a lie and being smeared by Rovian tactics.

and MORE than answered the Wright issue, but that didn't stop Clinton from piling on at the debate. She sure didn't offer him the same courtesy she now seeks. It's very reminiscent of the Bush administration going on the attack, then throwing out the "we need to change the tone" meme to stifle counter-argument.

Bosnia could have been a non-issue altogether if she'd not made it up. Obama isn't playing "gotcha". His opponent handed him an opportunity to counter-punch and he took it.

23. I believe Hillary was just saying this week how she loves it in the kitchen and loves the heat....
...well, then I guess her supporters should STFU when get gets some for her own lies.

Apologizing for it - which she really didn't do - doesn't mean you get to sweep it under the rug. It was the most brazen, outrageous, insane example of pure outright lying without even any attempt to avoid it that we've seen in the entire campaign from anyone since the primaries started. That's an issue. It goes straight to character, trustworthiness, judgment, experience and readiness.

She did it to herself. She needs to deal with that.

26. Obama has been a hypocrite from day one.
"When it comes to negative campaign tactics, Senator Obama has been a hypocrite from day one, decrying attack politics from one side of his mouth while he and his campaign wage a character assassination effort from the other,” said Clinton spokesman Phil Singer. “The juxtaposition of Senator Obama’s comments in the debate and the remarks made on his campaign conference call this afternoon prove the point."

Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 08:06 AM by Political Heretic
Even if I agreed with the characterization of the clinton spokesman - which I don't - it doesn't change the facts above.

By the way, the comments were from Gen. Walter Stewart, who said "“Now we can assume, and let's keep in mind that Senator Clinton has said she was under sniper fire, or she joked about, which to me was the cruelest part of all this, she joked about it with Jay Leno. … Imagine the lack of moral authority she has now to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day.”

I think after his service to our country he has pretty much earned the right to say damn near anything he wants. But if you want to trash a decorated general, hey be my guest.

MAJOR AWARDS AND DECORATIONS:

Silver Star
Defense Superior Service Medal
Legion of Merit
Distinguished Flying Cross with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster
Bronzed Star Medal 2nd Award
Meritorious Service Medal
Air Medal 1st thru 31st Award with Oak Leaf Cluster
Army Commendation Medal, 2nd Award
Good Conduct Medal, 1st Award
Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal
National Defense Service Medal
Vietnam Service Medal
Armed Forces Reserve Medal
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device
Master Army Aviation Badge
2 Overseas Bars
Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star

Let's see... yes I could imagine how he doesn't have much but critical comments to make to Hillary's outrageous and insulting lie and trivialization of the actual men and women who have actually dodged fire for their lives in service to this country.

29. Errr so nobody noticed this "attack"
until Wolfson publicised it.

a-a-a-nd

This "attack" was made by two ex-military men who - sometimes, maybe - advise the Obama campaign

a-a-a-nd

The Obama campaign does not support the "attack" (see your earlier thread)

a-a-a-nd

Hillary did make the statement in question

So how is this from "Rove's playbook"? So Hillary apologised, so what? Does Georgie get a free pass for torture if he apologises - or should we still roast his ass for war crimes?

They've squirmed and been in denial about this Bosnia lying from the start.
And it was not a one-time "mistake".... that's yet another lie from Hillary's own mouth.
She repeated her lie at many campaign stops. They are all on tape.
It's certainly no smear to call Hillary Clinton a liar. It is the honest truth.
