1. Was it a sudden rainshower? I would think she would get more viewers doing the speech in a dry area.
Cool effect tho. What is that she is wearing?

58. She wasn't getting wet - held umbrella over her
on say to/from bandshell, then she was under a bandshell roof. Not saying she didn't get a little damp. For that time of night with rain in forecast they should've scheduled it just down the road at the high school. Hearing the rain drumming on my roof I felt sorry for the Hillary supporters I knew had gathered not that far from my house.

I don't want to be snarky here - but I do live in McKeesport. McKeesport is a old steel town that has a large African-American population - that crowd shot seems all white. Rendell may be right.

86. What can I say, I like positive posts and issue posts. Fighting is not really my thing.
I have no problems with even tough primary campaigns, as long as it doesn't put Republicans in better position than democrats, or put trivia over substance, or lies over truth.
That does irritate me, I admit.
But I really don't like to see us tear each other up so much it damages us.
We are family, and I appreciate a good rah-rah thread.
So another KICK for this one.

67. It is a cool pic - too bad only DU seems to be covering it
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 02:24 PM by RamboLiberal
Even in Pittsburgh the rally was too late for the stations and newspapers to cover. They gave it a drive-by at best preferring the time to edit and report on campaign stop earlier in the day. On at least one station the earlier California PA stop did not look impressive at all showing a half-empty small college gym they reported that Clinton campaign couldn't fill up and her speaking in front of a group where floor space was clearly visible in the "crowd".

Incidentally Obama is supposed to speak Monday at 6PM at Penn State satellite campus in McKeesport just a quarter mile or so from where Clinton spoke. Be interesting to contrast the coverage.

Monday coverage of both campaigns here in Western PA area ought to be fun. I'll be glad when it's Tuesday night and this madness is over in Pennsylvania no matter how it goes. I think Clinton will win but I'm expecting it to be close. I'm praying PA will do something smart and put the Clinton campaign out of it's misery!

that you would let someone on a message board dictate you're opinion of a candidate, you may as well vote R.

Dont bother thinking about it, go ahead and vote for McCain. I think Hillary is an awful human being but I think she'd be a better president than McCain. If you think for a moment that McSame would be a better president than Obama than please show us all your stupidity and vote for him.

I'm not voting for McCain's stupid ass.

And I don't need anyone in this place to dictate how I feel about a candidate. Mr & Mrs O have done that for me. I'll vote for his ass if I have too. But as for "support"? It will be a cold day in hell when I send one penny, get a yard sign or sticker to show "Unity". Fuck that. If the examples of "Unity", "Change" and "Hope" are what is shown by Obama supporters like you, I'll just take out a gas mask in Novemeber if Obama gets the nomination.

this statement: But I guess if he get's the nomination I'll have to take Miss Michelle's advice ..... "I'll have to think about".

There is nothing to think about, both Hillary and Obama are better than McCain, and again if you are enough of a twit to make something someone posts on a message board a factor in the way you vote when the choice between either of our dems is better than the R alternative then you deserve McSame.

And by the way, the whole country should take a gas mask out in November if HRC gets the nomination.

29. That was a mile from my house
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 12:56 PM by RamboLiberal
No damn way in hell was I going down there to sit in the rain for Hillary with the mood I'm in about her campaign. I thought about going but the rain changed my mind. BTW, it was pouring in McKeesport about that time. She was on the bandshell which should've provided some protection from the elements overhead.

BTW, I was very excited and went to see Bill, Hillary, Al and Tipper in 1992 when they stopped in downtown McKeesport to speak at the JFK statue (spot where JFK gave a speech in our town I believe before he was president).

Barack will be in McKeesport on Monday night about about a quarter mile from where Hillary spoke.

I would guess just from knowing the area at most they had a few thousand. No way the park or the parking could hold more than that. I saw a small crowd of gathering around 7PM when I drove past - no traffic jams or any parking problems yet at that time. Hillary was supposed to speak about 9PM. News coverage was sparse probably because of the hour. The local news seemed to decide her mid-day speech in California, PA sufficed for coverage. There one news outlet showed they didn't fill a small college gym.

Here's another pic I found online:

But, you go on believing they support a Democrat they've spent hundreds of millions to destroy in the past.

36. Actually, I agree with you. I have always said that was their strategy.
It proves Obama is more electable and they are scared of him. The problem is not only is HRC less electable, she has cozied up with the other side numerous times.

The only reason HRC got more votes in Texas was because of Rush's marching orders. Fortunately the well informed and the active wing of the party made up the difference in the caucuses. I was one of them and am proud to say Barack Won Texas!!!!!

31. As I suspected being from McKeesport - Hillary wasn't getting very wet
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 01:59 PM by RamboLiberal
she was speaking from under the bandshell. Check the beginning of local news report. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/video/15935629/index.html

She only spoke for 8 minutes. You know if I sat in that rain for a couple of hours for 8 minutes I don't know if I'd be that happy about it. Western Pennsylvanians are tough - these people will sit for a couple of hours in crappy weather for a Steeler, college football or HS football game. Even a band competition!

A couple miles from here in downtown McKeesport is the JFK statue where Clinton and Gore spoke as they were on the bus tour after the Convention in 1992. I walked that night about 3 miles each way to see them.
