Advice needed -- Campaign Contribution Law |
|
Can anyone help me, please?
Our MeetUp group is planning a fund raiser in September.
We had been planning to have people make out checks to "John Kerry for President, Inc," but have just been told that we can't do this after the nomination.
Can anyone tell me what we can do to send the money to Kerry?
We were under the impression that each individual could contribute up to $2000 before the nomination and up to $2000 after it.
Thanks.

1. Kerry's taking public funds, so he can't take contributions after the |
|
nomination.
Normally, it would work that way -- in fact, you could send $4,000 now, and $2,000 would have to be earmarked for the general-election cycle.
You can send it to the Democratic National Committee, or to organizations like MoveOn (but each have their own section of the finance laws to deal with).
