ABC in defense mode this morning--what a joke!
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 10:15 AM by Blue_Roses
George Will, Cokie Roberts, and Sam Donaldson on with George Stephie...

Could you get a bigger bunch of repubs to "discuss" the debate:eyes: They don't have anyone who supports Obama or really Hillary (maybe Cokie) on the panal today. :eyes: Guess they did get their ass handed to them by the public this week after the debate:applause:

17. Already sent an e-mail
prefaced by saying "I no longer watch ABC" but read about the so-called interview with McSame on the internet(s). Brought up some question I wish had been asked of ol McSame.

4. ABC has been on the defensive since the debate. Trying to make the debate somthing it was not.
They know they are in SERIOUS trouble if Obama wins the nomination. They know that Obama will not accept debates from them (And likely McCain for that matter) And they know that they are going to be known as the tabloid of MSM for now on.

Cable news is kicking their ass and Blogs are kicking everyones ass.

5. The round table was a disgusting event
George Will repeated the lies that capital gains tax cuts raise revenues and Will even had the nerve to lie by saying Obama conceded that point. And after Stephanopoulus showed what a total bullshitter McCain was on his spending cuts, the panel gave glowing praise of McCain as a straight talker. Sam Donaldson said Obama supporters have a sense of entitlement and yell cheat whenever Obama loses. The early part of the panel was dedicated to attacking debate critics and making stupid excuses for the behavior of ABC at the debates. The whole thing was a pathetic display of how immoral journalists can be. Another round of Internet anger uproar is in order. ABC is a fascist network.

36. Cokie and Sam are gone
They were brought back to be security blankies. Sam Donaldson, as I recall, used to be a real White House reporter who would get mail delievered to "Sandinista Sam" and yell questions at Reagan as he was getting off the helicopter. Cokie used to be less of a ditz. And George Will has always been a pill.

34. Sometimes, you gotta wonder if they're really the same company.
Yeah, I know Murdoch owns FAUX, and Disney owns ABC, but they seem to get along rather well.

Sean Hannity's radio show is on ABC, but his TV show is on FAUX.

Pat Robertson used to own a cable network which he originally gave the imaginative name "CBN Cable". It was a vehicle for nationwide broadcast of The 700 Club and other religious reich programming, but he filled out the time with reruns of old TV shows. They used to run "Batman" reruns right after The 700 Club back in the 80's. Funny, when you consider the rumors about Batman & Robin. But anyway......

Eventually Pat got into some tax trouble, in regards to what parts of CBN were a ministry (and therefore, tax exempt) and which parts were a for profit business. Pat had to separate the cable channel from CBN, and it was renamed "The Family Channel".

A few years after that, he sold it to Rupert Murdoch, who renamed it "FOX Family Channel". And more recently, Murdoch sold it to Disney, who named it (obviously) "ABC Family Channel". Nothing much has changed except the corporate logo. The 700 Club is still their flagship program (Pat made sure it was in the contract, that it always would be) and they still follow it up with reruns - though sadly, not Batman anymore. :evilfrown:

But it's an interesting illustration of how incestuous these right wing media whores really are. BTW, before there was such a thing as FAUX News, Pat & friends used to refer to CBN's own news coverage as...... you got it.... "fair and balanced".

20. Chelsea Clinton tells voters to write to ABC and complain
I really have to give the thumbs to Chelsea on this

"I wish that was what the debate was focused on last night," Clinton continued, saying her mother would have rather had issue-based questions. "And I hope that you'll write to ABC and you'll tell them that. I'm serous though. ... I hope that you will try to again reestablish those issues of being the focal point of not only this debate but of our politics. I wish that were true. I'm so proud that that is what my mom is always fighting to do."

25. And it would impress me more if her mother hadn't appeared so complicit
in the distracting attacks -- Hillary was so well-prepared with the Ayers question with script and well-rehearsed lines in hand that it seemed staged. She picked up on the feed as if it was a purposeful set up for her, IMHO.

33. Perhaps the Clinton camp is trying to distance themselves
from abc--and Hillary's own performance of encouraging the "debate" to focus on non-issues--in an attempt to side-step the blow-back from the "debate"?

Why then did Hillary join in and try to put importance on the stupid questions?

Sounds to me like Chelsea is learning well how to rewrite history. Meh.

Don't really care for Chelsea's Hedge Fund Job either.

The point is, I think, that even Chelsea said to complain whereas Hillary supporters
here, thought the debate was just fine and to write a letter was a waste of time.
Chelsea still was evasive in the Clinton style in her reply.

You notice, I didn't waste one my 3 posts on this.

29. Good for you on the 3 post decision!
It's odd that she would say something contrary to mom rather than stay silent. Now I'm thinking there's something Clintonian about it. Primary season can't be over too soon for me!

I haven't even been watching a lot of the regular shows and none of the Sunday ones this week. I even spent all of yesterday reorganizing all my bookshelves. It brought me a sense of order and peace.

Ommmmmmm... :web:

27. I don't know what Donaldson had been smoking....
...but he added absolute zero to any discussion.

And if I were Cokie, I really don't think I would be openly discussing riding in a limo with the Bush clan to go see the Pope, while in the next breath basically saying that the average American voter really hasn't progressed much beyond the 1920 election, when Warren Harding was elected because of his looks. (That's what immediately came to mind when she kept hammering the point that voters tend to support who they "like more" in an election, without looking at the issues. Just how effing ELITIST is that??)

Then there was George S. after the Sunday Funnies, looking boyishly sheepish as he admitted that ABC "had it coming," or words to that effect.

Basically, just another hour of my life I'll never get back.
