It is time for Obama's "Joseph Welch" moment...
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 12:53 PM by PCIntern
he should have done it the other night. He should have pointed to that shit Gibson and that floating turd Stephanopolis and said: "YOU"RE not wearing flag pins," point to Hillary, "SHE's not wearing a flag pin...have you no shame at long last? Are we going to decide an election listening to this nonsense all over again, or are we going to finally grow up? You in the media are largely responsible for the failures of the last seven plus years by allowing this Administration to literally get away with murder and the shredding of the Constitution, and quite frankly, often admit to it. But you're like an addict who just can't give up the 'junk'. Stop it. Stop it right now!"

The crowd would have roared and instead of umming and ahhing, Obama would have carried the day. Stewart did it on Crossfire, and he could have done it here.

On edit: My post #4 below states that he must do it with calm deliberation, not angry, not at anything over the normal decibel level. I apologize for leaving out of this OP.

1. And thus would emerge the "angry black man" your parents are so scared about.
He's playing it cool.

3. He has to walk a tight rope on the National Stage.
Which makes what he's done that much more impressive.

4. I understand...
He would not have to deliver it angrily. Quietly, with grace and dignity. He does that beautifully.

"Playing it cool" is what Presidents Mondale, Dukakis, and Kerry did.

5. Exactly. And the RW preachers have instructed their congregations
That even if occasionally we on the left are correct about a talking point, that point is invalidated because of our anger.

And often we aren't even displaying anger, we are displaying a passion for the truth. And a passion for the desire to undo the many wrongs that the War, the Economy, and the Corporate enslavement of our persnhood etc are creating.

And so the least little bit of a display of anger gives the RW fundies the ammunition to say: "See how angry!"
