While the Democratic candidates duke it out, we are losing the Senate.
There is more to be lost here than the Democratic Presidential nomination. We stand to lose any gains we might have made in the Senate. (SCOTUS< SCOTUS<SCOTUS). This is why: on the ground, in the grassroots, we cannot organize effectively to mount an offense against the Republican Senators up for election in our states because everyone is so damned preoccupied with the Democratic primary race. No one is volunteering for the state races and many are saying that they will sit it all out if their darling doesn't get it. We have no bodies and that's the bottom line. So... not only are we unable to focus on McCain, we can't begin to go after getting a safer majority in the Senate (and the House, for that matter) while this suicidal primary race is going on and on and on.

We stand to lose the whole thing and the Supreme Court in the mix, and I, for one, will never, never forgive Hillary Clinton for that. This is after a meeting with my PAC today where the on-the-ground reality really hit home for me.

Well, Hill, maybe you and your daughter can explain to her daughter and your granddaughter why she no longer controls the fate of her body (and her life) anymore. Goddamnit, just goddamnit!

1. Yeah, another stupid rant...Hillary wasn't running when the Dems
caved and voted to put Roberts and Alito on the court, so put the blame where it lies...at the spineless Dems in the Senate, and stop being witht he irrational hatred.

3. Oh, ok, so I get it. Let's just make things worse? Good.

2. No we're not
We're going to dominate in Senate races. CO, NM, VA and NH are all likely pickups, and the Republicans' best chance in LA is not looking too good for them. Someone posted a poll around here showing Landrieu leading something like 52-39.

4. When was the last time you attended a meeting with a grassroots group?

5. Um... a couple of months ago
What does that have to do with anything?

6. I'm not sure where you have gotten this information.
Everything that I have read (and I am following the House and Senate races very closely) has suggested exactly the opposite. We are well-posed to sweep the House and Senate in a tidal wave.

7. That is complete nonsense.
The sky is not falling!

We are likely to pick up some seats.

I work in grassroots politics. I am getting more volunteers this year than ever. Even in my red area, we have more elected Democratic precinct committeemen than ever before. We have Democratic candidates in races where there have not been any in the past. Rather than infighting, I always tell our group that our primary is over, and we need to wait until the nominee is decided. I am encouraging them to work, fundraise and vote for local and state candidates. It is working.

8. bullshit. I keep up with this, and you're flat wrong.
In NM, Tom Udall polls 20+ points above Wilson and 15 points above Pierce. In CO, Mark Udall polled 3 points over Schaeffer for the 2nd month in a row, and Schaeffer has big ethical Abramoff issues that recently came to light. In NH, where I believe you live, Shaheen is polling above Sununu, who is well below 50% approval rating. In VA, Warner polls 20+ points above Gilroy. In Alaska, of all places, Begich is polling ahead of Stevens outside the margin of error. In MN we're competive.

It's ridiculous to think dems will lose the Senate this year.

9. The repubs have done little in the races as well so far.
Yet that was enough to effectively challenge Al Franken

So it is not ridiculous. The polls can change at any time.

11. Sorry, there isn't a single pundit or analyst that thinks the Dems
will lose the Senate this year. The repubs have far more seats up, and they have vulnerable seats up at that. And what on earth are you talking about when you say the repubs have done little in the races so far? Proof? No, of course not, that's speculation based on nothing. Oh, and dem candidates are outraising repubs. The polls in VA, for instance, could change any time- if Mark Warner were found in bed with a dead girl or live boy. That's the only thing that could change the trajectory there. Same goes for NM. The only dem in peril is Landrieu, and Kennedy is polling well behind her. I keep up with these races. Do you?

13. An additional point on Colorado
Schaeffer continues to be Mr. Invisible and is still leaving everything up to the ever-divisive Dick Wadhams, the man who brought us the dazzling "Macaca 06" campaign in Virginia. Furthermore, Schaeffer is getting trashed in fund raising and isn't likely to get much help from the cash-strapped RSCC.

Also, Schaeffer's still an ass. That hasn't changed.

10. You guys, mark my words...if we keep this up much longer, we will
not make the gains we had hoped for. I don't know what planet you are on, but we are in real trouble with McCain and the Senate if this continues. Mark it. I will eat my words if I'm wrong, happily!

12. Have fun eating them. Tell me how Warner loses or
how Tom Udall loses. Do you know how many repubs are running vs dems? This chicken little shit is understandable, though wrong, about the presidential race. It's just ignorant re Senate races.
