Just came back from a Bill Clinton event in PA.
He spoke 50 minutes. Smooth, solid mastery of facts. Didn't bash Obama for a moment. Consistently pointed out why Hillary is the better candidate. Point by point discussion of programs. Consistently pointed out how Republicans have dismantled the government for seven years.

Strong, effortless articulation of values that no one here would dispute six months ago.

When he was done he spent another 30 minutes shaking hands. Talked to one fellow in a wheelchair for 10 minutes.

Then he moved on to another event in Tannersville.

People should get out of GDP more often.

24. Was (past tense)
An asset to the big corporations outsourcing jobs and pushing NAFTA.

An asset to the Grover Norquist types wanting to dismantle welfare.

An asset to the CEOs wanting to cut salaries with H1B visas.

An asset to all the gays in the military, who were told to "just shut up and pass for straight".

And especially an asset to the health insurers, who got a free pass for 8 years, after they told him and his goof-ass wife where to go.

He's a pleasure to listen to, and I am proud to say that he signed my book and shook my hand-twice! It was as thrilling as the Hillary Clinton event I went to, where she too signed her book for me and shook my hand. I was lucky enough to be up front for both of those events. If everyone could go and hear her speak in person, they would back off the nastiness and support her again, just as the so-called liberals and progressives on this site always did in the past, before Saint Barack of Obama came along. At least Obama isn't a woman, right y'all?.:sarcasm:

9. I know this is difficult for some to discern, but he isn't running for president.
A proxy run perhaps, but this meshing of the two Clintons into one entity is laughable, particularly when the good and bad aspects of that union are cherry-picked for maximum albeit phony effect. That kind of politics only works on the sheep.

Democrats would LOVE that as a matching bookend to the 2000 coup d'etat, forever meshing the cheese of both parties into a gooey mess.

But, hey, you keep hope alive with that UNdemocratic strategy all the way to Obama's inauguration on 1-20-09, assuming you will finally concede at that point.

63. You forget the Clintons are the only ones who have beaten the Republicans..
Obama is the most un-presidential candidate that has ever contested for the highest seat in the land. Obama is a con-man and a phony from the word go and unfit for the office he is seeking. His intentions are not altruistic. He could care less about this country and the people who are depending on the next president to roll back the Bush years and give them a better life. He is in this for himself. For the power the office holds and the power that becomes his by proxy. If you thought Bush was BAD, Obama and history will in retrospect cast Bush as a Disney character and Obama as close as we want to get to chaos.

64. I guess you don't realize that all your rationalizations are moot.
His delegate lead is insurmountable.

Adj. 1. insurmountable - not capable of being surmounted or overcome; "insurmountable disadvantages"
unconquerable - not capable of being conquered or vanquished or overcome;
impossible - not capable of occurring or being accomplished or dealt with;

2. insurmountable - impossible to surmount
insuperable; unconquerable - not capable of being conquered or vanquished or overcome

70. Not really..
The Clintons are not in the election to lose. As early as today, pundits said, she can win in spite of the picture painted by those skewing numbers from all media fronts. The word 'insurmountable' is inappropriate in this context. But I'll leave it to you to watch and remember you thought.."insurmountable" and it's definition, forthwith...applied..

Good talking to you again, AK..

82. Definition of insurmountable
Good point. Capable of being surmounted. Of course it's capable of being surmounted until it's over 2024, even if unlikely.

If you mean unlikely say it, but saying insurmountable -- complete with definition and then not matching that definition -- won't convince anyone of your points.

Worse still is "mathematically impossible" when what you mean is "still mathematically possible" (which implies unlikely).

speech will be on the news, on CNN, on MSNBC, etc. The tv media (especially C. Gibson and G. Stephanopolis) doesn't care about "clean" conduct. They only want to bring gossipy, emotionally-charged speeches.

23. I saw him in January, and shook hands with the man
I posted about it here:

He delivered an intelligent, reasoned and persuasive argument as to why Hillary is the best candidate.

He made no outlandish comments; no faux pas.

He looked good. Healthy, refreshed and strong.

He talked quite a bit about Hillary's health care plan, weaning ourselves from oil dependency, and renewable energy, particularly in relation to her proposed plan creating jobs. He also discussed her economic plan, issues related to the mortgage loan crisis, national debt, foreign policy, Iraq and Iran. He spoke to her 35 years of experience, giving specific examples as it relates to the criticism of her as 'status quo' (my interpretation, not his words).

I remain undecided -- and he was definitely talking to undecideds, from the tone of his speech. There were many of us in the audience by show of hands.

I have until next Saturday to decide. I'm hoping to catch Edwards this Wednesday - I'd like to hear him in person. All in all, at a minimum, I am now leaning toward Clinton over Obama.

31. Bill is always a marvelous speaker. It is odd how many forget that.Obama can't even hold a candle to
Bill Clinton in oratory. He is brilliant and has a command of language and facts that is unparalleled. Clinton always factually illustrates everything he says.He never delivers an "empty speech" and yet does so in a manner that people can understand. Whether one likes him or not, Clinton could sell ice to Eskimos.Even his fiercest critics agreed with that. And he genuinely loves people and has a warmth that Obama lacks. There will never be a politician to compare with Clinton.

Hillary is either running on her own merits, or is running a campaign based on a 'co-presidency' with Bill against Obama. Which is it?

And fuck Bill Clinton after he signed NAFTA. He sold Labor down the river for thirty pieces of silver.

68. No I don't..
I do know 15 yrs later, they can see the deficiences and defects in NAFTA that has been the cause of US job loss. Hillary has said she will restructure NAFTA for the benefit of US Workers.I have no reason to doubt NAFTA cannot be a benefit to all if it is restructured properly.

73. Bill Clinton is such a tool...
that he had the nerve to paint Obama as the 'establishment candidate' http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-01-15-bill-clinton-nevada_N.htm

Unreal, the guy is a idiot.

And I like the way he pegs the dismantling of our government to coincide with his leaving office.

I would have zero problem with her being the nominee. It's a shame they just started doing this.
