What is "creepy"? Is Nader's strategy "creepy"? |
|
A while ago me and some people were having a discussion on what it means for someone to be "creepy". It's kind of a vague concept, but we started talking about how it's that you can tell they have some sort of hidden ulterior motive for which they are trying to manipulate you, and you can kind of sense it, but they are pretty good at hiding or obscuring it so you can't outright accuse them of it.
That having been said, I think that what Nader's been doing for some time is "creepy". He says he's doing all these things and giving reasons why, but they don't seem to hold up to reality, so you start to wonder, what is he doing? He has obviously been trying to answer our objections to his runs, saying that he'll take away more from Bush* or, as in last time, that there was little difference between candidates anyways, but these don't hold up to reality, so it seems as if he's trying to subdue and pacify us for some reason, but we don't really know what.

1. By October, will Ralph be going negative on his campaign? |

Sad, he's put ego-politics before an lifelong honorable agenda that could have been used to to effect the binary result in November...instead of providing an excuse to Bush, should Republican vote manipulation have progressed past Florida.

Naderites accuse Democrats of being too conservative and not standing up for progressive issues. Then Nader hops in bed with the right-wing Reform Party of Pat Buchanan to get ballot access to 7 states. Nader disses the Green Party, then decides he wants access to their 23 ballot lines when he can't make it as an Independent candidate. Greens stick with the guy who worked for the Green nomination and reject Nader. Then Nader blasts them.
Nader is a hypocritical egomaniac who will abandon his own "principles" and backstab anyone to bring down the Democratic Party.

3. I actually don't dislike Nader |
|
he's bringing up issues -- like withdrawing the troops from Iraq -- that I wish Kerry would propose.
Someone has to come out against this whole crazy war and propose getting the US troops out. Kerry is really not inspiring me very much on that. The only reason I would vote for him is a negative "he's not Bush." That's important since Bush is so awful, but Kerry really needs to differentiate himself and what he stands for.
