Lehigh Valley Clinton Rally-interesting thing I heard
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 10:04 PM by Jake3463
I did not attend but a good friend of my mother's did and I got a report from him. Was no overflow and they were charging $10 a head to come in. They also downgraded venues. They went from the Allentown Fairgrounds which seats thousands to a high school gym.

29. Funny, the Allentown Morning Call tells a completely different story
You might want to Google before posting "reports" from "a good friend of my mother's"
link

Clinton rooters began lining up before 6:30 a.m. to gain entrance, with lines snaking around the block. By 1:30 p.m., half-an-hour after Clinton's scheduled star time, scores were still waiting to gain entrance.

By the time Clinton finally took to the stage, volunteers had opened up rows of bleachers to accommodate a horde of slogan-chanting, sign-waving supporters.

Try this one (yup, you actually went to the site and cherrypicked the photo with the angle you preferred. Amazing.)

Look, I know you're rooting for your candidate, but making things up simply suggests you're making a lot more of it up.

46. Interesting note... gym capacity is 3000, according to the principal
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 02:30 AM by krkaufman
From the article posted...
Liberty principal Jo Anne Durante said the rally will be held in the school's gym which hold roughly 3,000 people. She wasn't sure what the capacity will be for Sunday's visit.

edit: Also, the article is not a report on the rally, but an announcement of a rally to be staged. The $10 issue is unresolved -- though I expect, if anything, it may have been a donation request rather than an entrance fee.

Clinton backers worried by mood in Pa.'s Lehigh Valley
By David Goldstein | McClatchy Newspapers

* Posted on Saturday, April 19, 2008

EASTON, Pa. — The morning specialty at Tracy's Cafe in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley is fresh fruit waffles, but regulars have been feasting on politics lately.

"You can't go through a day without being engaged in a conversation about the presidential race," said state Rep. Bob Freeman, a frequent customer. "The valley is the place to watch. Whoever carries the valley will probably be the one who carries the state."

With Tuesday's Democratic primary days away, Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are battling over a prize that will either extend her never-say-die quest for the presidency or likely secure him the nomination.

This old farming and manufacturing region, now a health care and high-tech corridor in eastern Pennsylvania, is a good place to measure the mood.

"It gives you access to almost any type of voter that you could imagine," said Christopher Borick, the director of the Institute of Public Opinion at Muhlenberg College in Allentown.

47. I was there. No charge and very large overflow crowd
I canvassed for Hillary yesterday, and then went to the rally. They had to open up a whole side of the gym to let more people in. The line was FOREVER. It stretched over 2 blocks, then snaked inside around the football field.

THERE WAS NO CHARGE. If someone paid $10 to get in, it was some schister (Jake, you know what that means) set up outside telling someone that.

As far as her being at the fairgrounds, that was a rumor. The initial report from the Mayor of Allentown was that she would be at the fairgrounds, but that was untrue.

I wish this OP would be deleted. It is full of untruths.

Has nothing to do with whether or not I "like" it.

And whatever about the rally/town hall. The majority of her rallies have been in local HS gymnasiums, and there have always been a lot of people left waiting, even though it's a shame that happens.
