Poll question: Which is most likely to shine some light backward into the Bush years |
|
I'm talking document dumps, declassifying things, and generally shining light on the probable illegalities of the last 2 terms.

1. I think Obama is most likely. I'm kind of suspicious of Hillary. |
|
She might pull a Bill and simply forget about looking into the past administrations "interesting" dealings.

3. I would be very interested |

Anyone here know much of how declassification and all that works? If we take the presidency, can Bush effectively lock all the history so we still can't get at it, or is the power all with the new president?

If its possible to fully discredit the other party, who needs a coalition?
Besides, there are enough half decent Republicans that wont be swept away in discrediting the Bush administration who will be more than eager to keep their minor involvement with Bush quiet, so a coalition will still be possible.

8. Making information available |
|
does not in my mind equal an inquisition. If we are going to have government of and by the people, we have to be informed.
I doubt that the information will exonerate certain parties, but even if the greater we then pardon those involved, the information should be in the open. Otherwise, we end up right back here, wondering how people were stupid enough to elect Jeb Bush in 2016 and hoping we can manage elect someone who will be even a hair better for 2024.

9. there is lots of cool stuff congress might do with a president that's not veto happy |
|
and why I support Obama largely, is because of his primary moral foundation... his Constitutional frame of reference.
That said it could happen with sufficient pressure from us on Congress...
They might even grow some "hair"

11. Well, imho, if Hillary gets in there, those files will be locked up tight as a drum. |
|
Both Bushes and Bill's as well. Like they are now.
If it's McCain, it'll be better than 30 years before anybody knows what went on.
With Barack, it's a whole new ball game.

12. I am glad to see that there are at least a couple |

Hillary supporters who think she would. It would really strain my understanding to think that you could support her without having some hope for openness and potentialy even justice to come.
