There might actually be some semblance of balance in this forum.

Not to say it would be a better place; the b.s. would just balance out a bit more.

3. three posts
I am looking at the whole picture. I see poo flying from both sides. However, one side adds shards of broken glass to the manure.

8. Obama supporters are the majority here
But can you really tell me that you've not seen a large number of spiteful, meaningless and downright ugly topics started by Clinton supporters?

12. See, now is that necessary?
Obamabot? This is what I'm taking about. How can you not understand that term is insulting? How can you not see that the use of it pisses people off? Supporters of Senator Clinton call us that and other worse names and then expect us to remain civil. You of all people should understand this is button-pushing.

18. Why do you hate Robots?
If you read Asimov, you'd learn that they are superior to carbon units, in terms of mental ability, logic, and in conviviality. They are programmed with these three laws:

"1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders conflict with the First Law
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First and Second Law."

Ironically though, Asimov never wrote a story like mine called "Or through inaction" where robots take over the operation of society in order to put a stop to all of the war, murder, fatal accidents, bullying, child abuse, starvation, etc., etc., etc. that we carbon units typically walk right by while closing our eyes to a situation which we refuse to acknowledge.

20. So, that's where Bishop got that line
From Azimov.

Of course, Bishop was a newer model. Not one of those twitchy Hyperdine 120-A2's like Ash.

As for your proposed future world, don't worry. I can handle myself

The one I hate the most, (at the moment), shoved my favorite ear-biting engineer out of a launch-tube on this week's Battlestar Gallactica! BAAAAD TOASTER!!! BAD!!11!!

23. Hmm, I thought there was a toaster in Red Dwarf
but I cannot seem to find it. I remember a talking toaster from somewhere though, always trying to get people to take some toast. Maybe it was in the sequel.

24. I seem to recall that particular toaster as well.
Snarky devil. But it didn't shove anyone out an airlock! Some toasters are just plain bad! There are a few on Battlestar Galactica that need to read Asimov or be unplugged imo.

17. 'Obamabots'
ugly, spiteful, and stupid. (And against the rules, too.)

BEING A GOOD DU CITIZEN

Remember that simply because something is not forbidden by the DU rules does not mean it is constructive, civil, or appropriate. If you are serious about improving the tone in the GDP forum, you should start by becoming the type of DU citizen you expect others to be. Here are a few ideas:

Read the DU rules and follow them.

Call the candidates by their appropriate names: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, or Senator Clinton and Senator Obama.

Do not refer to candidate supporters using derogatory names. Say "Clinton supporters" and "Obama supporters."

Do not make broad-brush statements about supporters of either candidate.

That's been pinned to the top of the forum for over a week now; you should take a moment to read it.

5. Are you fucking kidding? There's a thread like that nearly every day here!
It usually gets quickly locked due to unrelenting nastiness, which is why you don't usually notice.

Oh, I am so sick of you people whining that this site is biased against Clinton supporters. Guess what? There are MORE OF US (Obama supporters) here. This site has always leaned to the Left, and the majority of liberals in the Party have gotten behind Obama. NONE of this should be surprising to you.

If you feel outnumbered here, by all means join Hillaryis44.com. But these are netizen demographics you're fighting against, not some sort of prejudice on the part of the Moderators.

14. Three posts per person.
Astro-turfing not allowed.

Kind of evens out the odds, so the forum reflects the forum members, rather than people who think it's ethical to "game" the system by repeating posts and talking points.

16. IBTP
Funny, I just searched the front page of GDP and found about half a dozen "Obama sucks" threads and maybe one "Hillary sucks" thread and it has been that way for weeks with the usual suspects posting thrice daily Obama bashing threads or having the old ones kicked onto the front page.

But there are other forums. You could goto GD and argue about the polygamists or even read a boring post full of numbers about taxes (if you didn't have its author on ignore). Then there are state forums and issue forums, or even other discussion boards on the internets.

Your contribution here tonight has neither been a ray of sunshine nor a stimulating passionate discussion.

Well, maybe not lately, because most of the Hillary supporters have probably left and/or gone to the great beyond. Always able to dish it out, but couldn't take it. So now they are out-numbered and still talking smack.

29. "fair and balanced" you mean?
look, as an example: if I have to treat Charles Manson in a "balanced" way to Mother Teresa, then "balance" is the wrong thing to do.
