53. No kidding. In PA he's outspending her 4 to 1 and still getting throttled by her
just like what happened in ALL the states that the Dem candidate needs to win in order to win the GE.

I guess the Obamawhiners think it's so wonderful how Obama outspends the Goddess of Peace by 4 to 1 and can only win red states in the Primaries, most of them states that we won't touch in the General Election.

Hillary = Primaries winner of states we need to win in the GE plus a couple of red states in the GE = winner in GE

Obama = Primaries winner of states that we can't win in the GE and loser of some blue states, as well, in the GE = 4 years of McCain

Does not this alone suggest Obama is far more capable of bringing in $$$ to kick McSame's ass this fall?

This was each candidates first big test on being a chief executive - I'd say Obama has won that test hands down.

89. All politicians spend so much $$$ per vote
Thats politics.

The point and question is why was Obama vastly more successful raising cash?

We are not talking about big time donors here, Obama's $$$ came from individual donors in unprecedented amounts. Which is exactly what our candidate will need this fall to win.

24. Hillary has won only 15 state contests
while Obama has won 31.
That's only 1/3rd for her.

If you do the math, it's evident there's
no way she can catch up and win legitimately.

Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 06:54 AM by jackson_dem
The popular vote difference is 1.4% (2.6% if you agree with the Jeb Bush/Katherine Harris view) and will likely be reduced further tomorrow. The "Obama won 2/3 of states" argument is as bogus now as it was in 2004 and 2000 when the rethugs boasted that Bush won 30+ states both times.

like to harp on this money thing all the time. As if income justifies a power grab.

Don't we rail against corporations for thinking like this? Aren't progressives opposed to WalMart and Starbucks moving in and edging out Joe's Five & Dime or Mary's Coffee Klatch?

In the U.S. packaging sells... just about anything. And what people are willing to pay for seldom reflects on what's inside the package.

A "progressive" spending spree, in response to an Axelrodian packaging scam should give all of us great pause. Think about it.

49. Actually I was hoping my first choice candidate
Dennis Kucinich would at least get a chance to speak during the debates but he was ignored during the debates and locked out of 5 of them before he dropped out, thanks to the corporate media, and the way they favored the top 3 candidates.

A week before the primary I warily chose Obama because the person in our city whose wisdom I trust, John Nichols, suggested that Obama was more likely to end the war in Iraq than Hillary Clinton. Many former Kucinich and Edwards supporters followed his lead. Its only been 2 months since the Wisconsin primary. During that time Obama has impressed me favorably. But the behavior of Hillary Clinton has infuriated and disgusted millions of Democrats, including me. She has run a vicious, negative, campaign which has made me lose respect for her forever. She has no chance of winning at this point, only of dividing and hurting the party. So, yes, I look forward to her dropping out so that the party can begin to heal and support our nominee Barack Obama.

I had no strong feelings about Clinton vs Obama 4 months ago.

34. Don't you mean "winner of the ambush?"
I demand another debate with the first hour devoted to everything the Republicans would run against Hillary. First question - "Senator Clinton, what do you say to those making jokes about your husband being back in the White House with lots of free time?" Second question - "Senator Clinton, let's be honest, why did you feel it necessary to lie about your trip to Bosnia?" Third question - "Senator Clinton, isn't it true you hoodwinked the voters on your NAFTA position?" Fourth question - "Senator Clinton, you claim your Iraq war vote was a vote to continue inspections - why then was it a resolution to use force?" Fifth question - on tape from a right wing mouth breather - "Mrs. Clinton, we know you killed Vince Foster, why do you deny it?"

41. If she could really win, which she can't, she would have done so
when she said it would be over Feb 5th.

She should have seen the handwriting on the wall then, but arrogance and an overwhelming sense of inevitability would not let her. She keeps hanging on, clinging to her dreams of greatness, despite lesson after lesson in reality.

95. Some of your responses, rdancer, are those of someone who
is only 18 or 19 years old with no experience in the real world other than what you read on your computer monitor.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that you use the 'elite' epithet when referring to Sen Obama. This is just another way of saying 'uppity' in Hildebotspeak.

As to 'working class', what exactly is that? Could it include an entrepreneur who worked 60 or more hours a week rather than the standard 40, was frugal in his or her expenditures, wise in investments, and continues to do so despite an accumulation of some degree of wealth? Or, in your mind, is it only a blue collar worker who punches a time clock, and makes do from pay check to pay check? I have coffee regularly with a former chicken farmer whose assets are into the seven digits, all from getting up early, working all day and into the night, and making wise investments. Now he only works if he wants to. I would not refer to him as an elite yuppie, but rather a working class guy who used to have chicken droppings in his shoe treads.

Now,how about another of your snappy little comebacks, in CAPS of course, such as "SHAME ON YOU", or "LIAR" maybe

109. But she doesn't seem to mind not paying the working class for
their work.

One can certainly hope that the “working class” for whom HRC is ostensibly fighting for has other means of paying the bills they already have whilst they wait for payment for the debts the Princess of Non Payment is running up.

“Even though Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton raised $21 million in March, her campaign continues to struggle with a cash squeeze as her unpaid bills mount and she spends more money than she is taking in, according to new campaign finance filings.”

Obama and his slippery slope is under intense scrutiny by the uncommitted superdelegates. He cannot possibly win now without sucking them in.

Ohio's Rep. Ryan endorses Clinton

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio is supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton for president — the second Democratic Ohio superdelegate to back the New York senator in two days.

Clinton's website announced Ryan's support on Saturday. Ryan, of Niles, originally supported Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd for the nomination.

"The people of the 17th (Congressional) District overwhelmingly voted for Senator Clinton in the Democratic primary," Ryan said on the website. "I look forward to working with her to see that our community is the beneficiary of her economic policies."

Another northeast Ohio member of Congress, Betty Sutton of Akron, threw her support behind Clinton on Friday.

87. Townsend: Clinton has 'grit' to lead******

Townsend: Clinton has 'grit' to lead
Kennedy family member talks about what Hillary offers.

After her visit Sunday with Saint Mary's College students, Hillary Clinton supporter Kathleen Kennedy Townsend answered a few questions from The Tribune. Here is a transcript of that interview:

Q: With the primary coming so closely and still a lot of people unsure who they like more, Hillary Clinton or Obama, can you give them a little more of an idea as to why they should vote for Hillary?

A: I think we have two different candidates but I think what we've got in Hillary Clinton is someone who knows how to get things done, and is willing to fight -- for health care for all Americans, to bring our troops home, to make sure we'll have 5 million new green jobs and 3 million jobs in infrastructure. We want somebody who's got the grit to get down in the details and solve problems. I want somebody who knows that we are in the worst economic times since the Great Depression, who understands what that requires, and who has a grasp on how to solve these problems.

Q: So do you feel that Obama is sort of too gentle or isn't tough enough to deal with Republicans in Washington?

A: I just think that that he doesn't have the same experience. Give him a few years so that he knows how to get things done. Look, he's a very good candidate. I think he has inspired wonderful numbers of young people to come into the campaign. He has been very exciting. But at the end of the day, when we have had the crises that we have now, I want somebody who has really got the grit and the fight to solve problems.

93. “A Few Last Words” for Pennsylvanians:

“A Few Last Words” for Pennsylvanians: In an op-ed in the Philadelphia Daily News, Hillary writes: “Traveling across this state today, I see that same Pennsylvania spirit my family instilled in me - that wonderful combination of resilience, patriotism and optimism. A spirit that says anything is possible when we roll up our sleeves and get to work. That is the spirit I'm bringing to my campaign, and the spirit I will bring to my presidency.” Read more.

105. With about 4 hours to go to start getting results from Pennsylvania...
isn't it time to just sit back and let the Pennsylvanians speak for themselves?

There is still the problem of Michigan and Florida--millions of voters hanging in the wind.

There is still the problem of Texas which is still in play until after June 7th.

There will be, for the next 50 years, a discussion of what caucuses did to the primary of '08.

There will be the usual arguments about the difference between closed and open primaries. We took, as a party, a big hit by not closing our primaries.

Let Pennsylvania speak for itself. And, there are still states, my own included, who have not spoken as yet.

Congrats to all Hillary supporters who have been fighting upstream on this primary on this site.
