Ad Campaign Idea: Tie Bush to His Colossal Failures in Texas
Bush, Cheney, Rod Paige (Sec. Education), Don Evans (Commerce Secretary), and Alphonso Jackson (HUD Secretary) are all Texans.

What might work, especially with education is to say:

" As president, George W. Bush and former Houston Superintendent Rod Paige are proud of bringing Texas style reform to America's schools.(Insert Clip of Bush saying something about NCLB). What GWB won't mention is the fact that Texas schools are among the worst performers in the country. Instead of recycling failured Texas programs, John Kerry will bring real reform to America's classrooms, and will restore millions of dollars in Pell Grants so that Americans don't have to borrow a bundle to pay for college. America deserves better than what GWB gave Texas."

HUD-Mention the colonias (sp?) in South Texas that Bush failed to help.
Commerce-Mention exorbinant oil profits (Evans used to be an Oil & Gas CEO)

Tagline for All: "America deserves better than what GWB gave Texas"

1. Will you send that to the
Kerry camp to see what they think? I think your ideas are good.

3. It didn't work before when we (the real Texans) try to warn you, but
maybe now there will be some listening ears. (I, of course, do not mean DUers when I say "you". I mean the ignorant general public.)

4. The problem will be that so many of our current problems...
...existed long before Bush became governor.

5. But....
the fact that he did nothing to fix them when he was governor is an indictment in itself.

8. In some ways...but this is tradition. He got a few good things...
...in the pipeline but mostly he was just...there.

6. this will NOT work. forget about it.
i don't dispute your points in the slightest. bush was not at all good for texas. but in a presidential contest for re(s)election, what kind of governor shrub was is irrelevant.

i mean, anyone can say, so what if he screwed up texas, if he's a good president, who cares?

point being, this angle of attack will come off as "last campaign's news". when reagan was running for reelection, would anyone have cared about something he did as governor of california? of course not.

no, this election is 98% about shrub's performance in the oval office, and 2% about kerry's ability to prove that he's a reasonable place to put a "not bush" vote.

7. But....
he's brought all of his Texas friends, programs, and policies to the WH with him, and seeing what the long-term effects in Texas (ie failure) of his policies are will only solidify the feeling that GWB is a moron.
