1. The press is afraid they will
lose their jobs. See that Kerry is winning over some corporations with his attitude about health insurance. 100 billion is better for the health care than Halliburton's fake service to Iraq.

2. Because they're too busy following Chimpy around with the cams.
Think about it: how much do you see of Kerry, even, on a daily basis?

3. I watch a lot of CNN while trying to sleep, and neither JE nor JK are
mentioned often. I can't remember the last time I saw Edwards in ANY story on CNN, or appearing on any talk show.

14. Wes was a TV talking head before being drafted by the Clark "Democrats"
so this isn't anything new for him. Figure he should have more time to do this since he's no longer being considered as VP

7. We hear about him because the corp/media wants him in the worst way.
We don't see him because he has nothing pertinent to say about Iraq. No one is talking about domestic issues or two Americas...at least not now...maybe later if the war really gets bad and Bush wants to change the subject.

12. I follow the news closely, and I supported Clark in the primary
and I disagree completely with your notion that the media is pushing Edwards or anyone else for VP. They try to dig up stories without doing any research, yes. But by no means are they pushing a dem candidiate.

There's absolutely no reason they WOULD be pushing any dem. agenda right now, if your theory about their desire for RW control is true. They would instead completely ignore the process and Kerry too. They wouldn't be giving free media to the dems. (Personally, I don't believe they are some organized Cabal - I think they are generally lazy and supportive of the Bush admin. but not some "conspiracy" to fool us all.) I understand a number of folks at DU feel as you do, I'm just putting in my opinion that the media isn't responsible for as much as we credit it for.

It's also untrue that Edwards has "nothing pertinent to say about Iraq." You may think General Clark has more or better experience, and I would agree with that, but Edwards is one of our 100 Senators and no dummy. He may be our VP, and whether or not he is chosen, I say let's strive to be reasonable in our discussions of the facts. (Of course, I am not always reasonable myself!:) )

Really. Most of us on this board are tired of this.

Please stop this ridiculous stuff.

Go back to your Clark boards and post this stuff. Why here?

17. Go back to your Clark Boards?
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 12:20 PM by Mobius
scroll up and see who started the attempt at irritating Clark supporters. Now we are being told to shut up? By who? You? As to your assertion "Why here", EVERY SINGLE VP poll on DU Clark has won. So apparently this seems to be a good forum to discuss Clark. Shut us up and tell us to go to our small corners of the world. Aren't you classy.

Edited to add: get a new host for your sig line, all I see is angelfire. I see that from alot of Edwards people. Don't you guys know how to change it?

18. I would humbly like to point out
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 12:30 PM by Mobius
that in my poll (before it was locked) DU voted by a margin of 3 to 1 that they are indeed NOT sick of hearing about Wes Clark. I would also worry about people that bash him, for whatever reason they feel they must (and that IS their right, however 75% of DU is not sick of hearing about him. That does not represent "most" of DU as being sick of hearing about Clark. We also should be careful of smearing someone who will most likely have a foreign policy post of some type, if not selected as the running mate.

9. Veep shortlist not on TV much--except for Clark
I haven't seen any of the guys, except for Clark, who are reportedly being seriously considered for the Veep spot on TV much these days. Where's Gephardt, for example.

Of the former candidates, Wes Clark and Howard Dean are the guys you see on TV.

Could this mean that the campeign wants to minimize the exposure of the guys who are really being considered (i.e. make sure they don't screw up on national television)?

Anyone who says that Kerry's "using" Clark by having him act as a surrogate if he's not going to pick him as Vice President is doing a diservice to Clark's motivations. Bottom line is the man's a patriot. I'd be very disappointed to see him sulk home if he turns out to not be Kerry's dream date.

15. Because of Iraq
Out of the Veep short list none are as qualified as Clark to talk about Iraq. I think because we just handed over power and so on and so forth he is in the best positions to answer these questions and not screw up. I have also seen allot of Biden and Hollbrooke, so security is the reason. I also know that Clark is on Kerry's list of Foreign Policy Advisor's (along with Biden, Hollbrooke, Beers, ect..) so that is another reason.

IMHO short list includes Edwards, Gephardt, and Vilsack but not Clark or Dean.

13. Kerry is putting his best people where are work best...
Edwards is a Senator and if you check the US Senate site, you would see that during the week he's been in the Senate doing the work for you and me and the people of NC. During the weekends he's been at various Democratic events at the request of Kerry.

TX, LA, IOWA and even IL for the Rainbow/Push conference. He will be going to Boston to fundraiser for Kerry after he takes his break to be with his family over the 4th. His wife's birthday is on the 3rd.

When the media asks for a spokesman for Kerry on the War issues Kerry refers them to Clark. Clark is a member of his military advisory committee.

It is a smart move keeping Edwards to do the fund raising and getting the base excited and using Clark to speak for the Democratic position regarding the war.

But it doesn't mean that one is working harder then the other one. They are simply working in the areas that they are best at for Kerry.

16. He's traveling around doing fundraising & such. Nat'l media doesn't
follow politicians into nooks and crannies, usually. Especially when, like Edwards, you're not a candidate for anything.

They're not even following Kerry around to the battleground states, generally.
