Hillary in Bitterland: Clinton finds her people in Pennsylvania
http://article.nationalreview.com/print/?q=NzBkNzNhNmE1NjA5MjE5OWU2OWE4NDYxMDc3MzM0MjE=

“People in this region aren’t bitter in the sense that he understands,” Daley explains. “Their bitterness is the fact that they’re just tired of losing their jobs, losing opportunities, losing their young people, just because we haven’t had that federal help, that little push to keep those steel mills here, keep those coal mines here, and create manufacturing opportunities.” That, of course, is pretty consistent with what Obama said, but it was the second part of Obama's statement — the part about clinging to religion, or guns, or bigotry — that rankled. “Unconscionable,” Daley tells me.

This is Clinton country. A new poll from Suffolk University, out today, shows Clinton leading Barack Obama statewide, 52 percent to 42 percent. But in the southwestern part of the state, here in the Mon Valley, Clinton has a huge lead, 74 percent to 17 percent.

And people here aren’t just for Clinton. They’re against Obama. At this Hillary rally, no one expresses any outright hostility to Obama, but they tell me over and over again that they just don’t like him, that they don’t care for him, that they don’t trust him. They view him as inexperienced and not ready to be president, and they think he’s selling them a bill of goods.

<snip>

As far as voting for Obama is concerned, the views of people here are just about the same as those in the Mon Valley. More than half of those I ask say they won’t vote for him under any circumstances. A few others say they’ll have to think hard about it. And a few say they’ll be (grudgingly) loyal Democrats.

4. It's an interesting piece of reporting.
And what's scary is that Hillary's supporters seem less likely to support Obama. Makes me wonder if she's just a stalking horse for the GOP at this point.

6. I have no doubt that there are pockets in PA (and the rest or the U.S.) like that.
There are also pockets that wouldn't vote for Clinton if you put a gun to their heads.

I have no problem with the premise of this article as long as it's understood that these little pockets are not representative of 99% of the country.

7. I saw '1' Obama Sign in Western PA... There were more Ron Paul signs than Obama
There were dozens of Hillary signs and an occasional lonely McCain sign.

Obama will lose Western PA big. Hillary will lose Philly no doubt. The swing area will be the mushy middle of the State... Harrisburg, etc.

8. Yup! 20+ for Hillary!
that's where the goal post is! "Clinton Country" has it all sewn up! This is where she proves to all of us that she can catch up to Obama's lead. The firewall to end all firewalls.

16. She's not going to win Pennsylvania by 28 percent nor is she
going to win the rest of the remaining states by 28 percent. And that is what she has to do to (just barely) overcome Obama's delegate lead.

12. What I can not understand
Is that Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA. NAFTA has been the root of many of the problems we have when it comes to lose of jobs due to outsourcing, and has helped to put our economy in the sad shape it is in today. My problem is I can't understand how people who have been affected by NAFTA can honestly think that Hillary Clinton is going to bring those jobs back, or do anything at all to kill NAFTA, change NAFTA, or do anything about future so called "free trade" agreements!

I think that people want to go back to he good old days when factories were going strong and people could make a good living working in them. A time when gas prices were low, jobs were plentiful, and our economy was doing great. We all would like that, but the reality is that Hillary is "not" going to make those changes, or bring back those times. We need a "new" course in this country, not a dream of the past. We have to go forward with new ideas to take this country out of the pit that Bush has put it. We need to change politics in D.C. and put new faces in congress, and the whitehouse that will do the will of the people for a change, not the will of corporate America. Hillary is not that person, she is running on her husbands name, and on the past. We need to look ahead, not back, in order to make the needed changeds to revive this country!

17. National Fucking Review
I mean really. How can you defend this? You realize that um, over at the National Review, THEY DESPISE US! Why would you ever look for honest analysis from people that want us to fail?
