Who thinks tomorrow might have a surprise? |
|
Who thinks tomorrow might let us know who the next V.P. is going to be? With the 4th coming up and then on it's heels the convention, Thursday would be a great day to make the announcement, with Wednesday being the "leak" day. Who agrees? Who thinks that it is Clark (who afterall, has been on T.V. CONSTANTLY the last few days)?

1. No. MacAuliffe has said that it'll take place in two weeks |
|
or right before the convention.
Why do you think something is going to happen tomorrow?

2. I don't think Kerry will announce until after the 4th. |
|
Maybe the week of the 12th.

I'm ready to find out. I'd love a Kerry/Clark ticket.

4. It would be a bad idea |
|
to announce the VP before the convention as it would take away much of the interest. Who would watch if everyone knew in advance what the outcome would be?

15. Reagan was one of the first to |
|
announce his VP choice before the convention, in '76, in an effort to wrest the nomination from Ford. It didn't work. However, it could happen in an uncontested convention. Still a bad idea.

5. probably not, Kerry already has scheduled events |
|
and the focus is very much on the iraq "transfer of power". and people are going to be focusing on 4th of july holidays and going to other people's homes and probably wont be in front of the tv to be able to watch the interviews and other things promoting the vp.
remember, the vp announcement is helpful in that it's one time when the presidential candidate will get national attention on something he does and much will be positive at first. they need to make as much of it as they can. and make sure people will be home to actually watch.

14. I wish it was enough to say "won't happen" but I'm sure |
|
we'll hear lots of reasons why some people think it won't happen.

All the names are out there. Everyone has already been tested. I don't think the VP this year is going to be a complete dark horse.

8. I think mid July is a better guess. And I certainly wouldn't think |
|
they would announce the week of the handover in Iraq and the handover of Saddam and the <possible> indictments from the Grand Jury.

12. He should announce at the convention |
|
and with any luck, sensible heads will prevail.
From the moment the announcement is made, a broad front offensive should be waged with relentless energy. The very obvious impatience and short attention span that has everyone stampeding for the announcement to be made is the best argument against it being made soon.
