New Hillary Ad Shows Bin Laden, Asks: "Who Do You Think Has What It Takes?"
Back to the Politics of Fear again.

Hillary's up with a new, last minute spot in Pennsylvania designed to swing the late-breaking undecideds.

Though there's no mention of Obama here, the crisis imagery, combined with the line "who do you think has what it takes," are clearly designed to sow doubts about Obama's fitness to be commander-in-chief...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDap46WOCmA

Also: Note the very brief appearance of Osama Bin Laden.

Late Update: The Obama campaign is already out with a response: It's directing folks to this video of Bill Clinton saying the following in 2004:

"Now one of Clinton's Laws of Politics is this: If one candidate's trying to scare you and the other one's trying to get you to think; if one candidate's appealing to your fears and the other one's appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope. That's the best."

There it is ... she's no different than Bush. If you don't give her what she wants, she'll use fear to manipulate you into giving her what she wants.

How can any Democrat support her after this? THIS is the kind of thing we have all been furious about for the last 7 years! :grr:

19. Whoever wins the GE will have to come out ahead on this question.
If a poll were taken today McCain probably beats Clinton and Clinton probably beats Obama on that issue. Perhaps running the ad in PA is because Dems in PA are somewhat like the average American - political parties aside. That makes it a smart thing to do. If she wins PA using that ad - the super delegates batter pay attention - because McCain will be riding that horse to the finish line if our candidate lets him climb onto it.

48. I think you're wrong as can be. Barring some catastrophic attack,
this election will hinge on the failed economy. I don't know where you live, but I know many people here are having trouble feeding their families, our food pantries are perilously low, and many folks can't pay their heating bills. More and more Americans are losing their homes and having trouble affording fuel for their cars. It'll be much worse by November. If you simply look at things through a national security lens, I understand why you see things the way you do.

That means McCain with several years in the senate and on various committees will be offering his experience dealing with such things on a national level against Obama who has almost none. We'll hear the same old conservative vs. liberal economic memes trotted out - where no-one believe much of that anyway. However, voters might recall that during Bill's admin he managed to turn a deficit into a surplus while improving economic conditions for all economic classes - all while fighting tooth and nail against a lunatic Gingrich house that wouldn't give an inch on any issue. But wait, Obama says that never happened and Clinton's economic ideas are worthless.

Here's a question. If it's really about the economy, why are we in the process of driving a stake through the heart of the Dem candidate who has actual credibility and experience on that issue and proposing the candidate who has no credibility or experience on that issue - for sainthood?

65. no, actually it means nothing of the sort. The electorate trusts dems
on the economy by a wide margin, and that's even truer in bad times. It's hard to find a presidential election year over the past 3 decades where Americans were so economically worried. Make that freaked out. Furthermore, McCain is famous for not having had much interest at all in domestic policy, and particularly in economic issues, over his Senate career.

Your hyperbole is ridiculous. No one is driving a stake through hillary clinton's heart. That's simply paranoid. Voters are deciding which candidate they want as the nominee. It's called democracy. And I disagree that Clinton has much more experience than Obama. He's been in the Senate for 3 years and he served in the Illinois Senate for 8 years. Hillary has served in the Senate for 7 years, and no being first lady or serving on the Walmart board is hardly legitimate experience.

What are you really so scared of? That Obama won't support the hard liners in Israel that you so admire?

. . and tell me when Dems have ever talked about any Dem candidate in this way. I was not committed to either candidate until you folks started claiming that Hillary and Bill were racists a few months ago. That really turned me off to Obama and I have only been turned off more and more by those same hateful tactics by Obama supporters here on DU since then. Based on many of your past I/P posts it seems to me you like to have someone to hate - and now you've found a target for a while. You are long past the point of objectivity on this and can not even see a small part of what is happening. I have no need to convince you of anything. Reality will do that job in November.

I seldom post in this area because I end up feeling like I'm participating in the destruction of fellow Dems rather than a discussion about who might be the best candidate. Toodles.
